William Terry Hodges - Sergeant - Compamy G. William was born 18 September 1843 near Ashville in St. Clair County Alabama. He was wounded at Reseca Georgia 22 July 1864. He had gone on the battlefield to get his uncle, John Higginson who died in the battle. He was also wounded at Shiloh and carried that bullet under his knee for the rest of his life. William served as Treasurer and County Commissioner for St. Clair County. He was also a very active member of the Confederate Veterans Association of St. Clair County serving as Tresurer and Secretary. He died 21 April 1919 and is buried in the Ashville Cemetery courtesy of Drew Beeson |
