George Henry Mothershead - First entered service 22 August 1861 in the 55th Virginia Infantry (Westmorland Grays). The Confederate Army Department, Washington Sept. 6, 1912 states the following; The records show that George H Mothershead, Private, Company G. 15th Regiment Of Virginia enlisted 23 Feb. 1863. He served under Col. William Collins and Captain G.W. Cook and was captured near Ashland Virginia11 May 1864 and was turn over to thr Asist.Provost Marshall at Fort Monroe, Va 15 May 1864. He was sent to the prison camp at Point Lookout, Maryland, possibly escaped and found his way back to Westmoreland by the end of the war. On September 4th 1912 his widow, Luticia Mothershead, at the age of 74 applied for a widows pension and received $50. courtesy of Great Grand daughter Betty J. Mothershead Ranson |

Benjamin W. Pritchett - Company M. Place of residence Spotsylvania, Virginia. Enlisted March 13, 1862 hospitalized Sept. 5, 1862 returned to duty March 15,1863. wounded May 5, 1863. He as wounded in the shoulder just minutes after the wounding of Stonewall Jackson. He was about 500 feet southeast of Jacksons location. He was one of only a handful of men left in his unit when it surerrendered at Appomatox Courthouse, Virginia on April 9, 1865 photo circa 1866 courtsey of gr-great grandson David Engel |
