John was born 6 April 1846 and enlisted in
the fall of 1862. He was captured 6 April 1865
and spent several weeks at Point Lookout
Prison Camp. Once released he returned to
Bedford County, Virginia, where he spent the
rest of his life. He died 4 June 1929
