Leonard B. McGrew - Private- Company F. He is described as; 21 years of age; height 5"8"; fair complexion; blue eyes; light hair; farmer. Leonard appears on the casualties list for Walthall's Brigade during the operations before Murfreeboro,Tennessee (28 December 1862 till 4 January 1863) as having been wounded in the hip and knee in a cornfield near Shelbyville, Tennessee. He was sent to Rome Georgia where he was discharged on 11 April 1863 by Dr. Pynchon. It was the opinion of the doctor Leonard would never be fit for service agian. Leonard then enlisted in in Company E. of the 3rd Mississippi Cavalry. He next appears on the Prisoner of War Rolls in Captain W.E. Meek's Company. This Company was surrendered by Lt. General Richard Taylor on 4 May 1865 at Citronelle, Alabama to Major General Canby U.S. contributed by great grandson Billy Deen (note the fiddle and the knife) |
