Elijah Mosley Dodson - Lt Colonel
Elijah was born 20 February 1835 in Flat Schoal Georgia.
He first entered service at a Lieutentant in the 1st Georgia Infantry Battalion. At the Battle of Chickamauga he
commanded the Battalion and for his gallantry he was
promoted to Major on 2 October 1863. At the Battle of Kennesaw Mountian his cool bravery gained him a
promotion to Lt.Colonel. It was on that Battlefield that he
was wounded in the thigh a wound that disabled him from
further active service and a wound from which he would
suffer intense pain until his  death in 1904. The scar on his
left cheek is is from a yankee bullet. After the war he was elected to the Georgia legislature. He eventually moved to Chattanooga Tennessee where he was a prominent lawyer
and had a large practice. Although he was promoted to Lt. Colonel he was always known as Major Dodson.
