William Roddy - Private - Company I. William enlisted at Etna in Smith County, Texas under the commannd of Polignac and his unit fought at Mansfield, Louisana to help stop the yankees from blockading the Red and Sabine River, which would have stopped the cotton shipments. They were victorious in this battle. Grandpa Roddy passed away in 1939 in Wills Point, Texas at the home of his daughter Mrs. Tommie Lee Sadler. courtsey of gr grand daughter Melanie Bennett |

Edward Wells - Jr.2nd Lieutentant - Compamy C Edward was born in Dancyville Tennessee in 1830. Prior to 1850 he traveled to Texas where he married Eunice Emily Davis ,also from Tennessee. He enlisted in the 17th Texas Cavalry and was captured at the Battle of Arkansas Post in January 1863. He was sent to Camp Chase, Ohio for a short time and was released as part of a prisoner exchange. Edward return to duty for the remainder of the war and he eventually made it home to Texas. He died at Hallsville,Texas in 1868 of causes related to the war. He left his wife to raise four young boys. courtesy of gr gr grandson S. M. "Buck" Wells |
