Biographical information...
Vance grew up in the church in Alabama and felt a call to missions soon after his conversion in 1992. He enrolled in the Intercultural Studies program at Lee University and met Kari, a Floridian who was majoring in psychology. Their first missions experience after getting married was a 10-week missions practicum in the Philippines that involved medical missions, preaching, teaching, and feeding programs.
After graduating from Lee in 1996, Vance and Kari went to the People's Republic of China, where they taught English for four years and completed their masters' degrees. Kari majored in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Azusa Pacific University, and Vance received a degree in Intercultural Studies from Wheaton College. They were appointed as missionary interns in 2002.
