                                 LONG DAYS AND MONTHS..

Long days and months my lady did not know
What weary longing for her love I had
Or how the day to me were dark or glad
With every change of her sweet face, and oh,
I dared not tell her that I loved her so
But dreaming on her fairness thought me mad,
And the long nights, to me were sharp and sad
With so sore longing sick with many a woe.

But now, O Heaven, the world is all divine;
For she hath let me touch her lips and twine
Both arms about her beauty; even now
With so sweet dreams my face is lying meek
Upon my lady's heart, and lo, her cheek
Like a great rose, is soft against my brow.
