GFIR, April 22
The George Fetsko Initiation Ride, or GFIR, was scheduled by Herr Ober Shirk to occur on one of the crappiest days I have had the sorry pleasure to go riding on. Yuck only begins to describe the incessant drizzle, rain, etc. To top things off, the temps were barely in the 40's. Turn out was understandably small, with George, Russell, Rick, and myself deciding to go for a ride down through the Yough valley, up over a couple ridges, etc. Hoping to stop for lunch near Bedford, we abandoned the ride in Somerset. This was too bad, but we were feeling all pretty crappy and really wanted to get home. George has been properly Initiated- now he needs to put on his bags and find out what the Connie can really do that his ZX couldn't. On a side note, on his way to the GFIR Emery went down near Mt Union. Rick and Russell said he was luckily OK, but his bike is pretty much toast. We hope everthing is allright and Em is riding again soon.
