How do you compete in road riding competition? 1st you join the AMA and District 7 and receive a competition card that has your name and number on it. 2nd. at road riding events register under your class of competition that you are riding. Examples: solo rider, buddy rider, passenger. At this time you are awarded 10 points. At the completion of the ride you are awarded 10 more points. Then there are points awarded for placing from 5 to 1 point. When the riding season is over points are totaled and from the ten best finishes, the person with the most points wins their riding class.

The awards Banquet at the end of the riding season is to recognize those people who have placed according to each class.

Poker and lime runs are the most popular road riding activities. They require no special equipment or extraordinary skills. All that is required is a street legal motorcycle and a license to ride. Go to an event and sign up for the ride. After the sign in there is usually a drivers meeting to hand out route sheets and to directions to those who have never been on a lime run and to talk about any points of interest along the route. The route can take you through some pretty countryside where you can have check points or receive tokens that you turn in at the end to draw cards. Everyone draws a poker hand and the people who draw the best hand wins prizes. There are other kinds of rides such as quiz runs, observation runs, bingo runs, dice runs, scavenger hunts, and nostalgia runs. Sounds like a great idea to join up and have fun riding a motorcycle during a sanctioned event.
