Herr Ober, Rick Shirk served as
host for the first annual "Where the flock is Barneytown"
Ride and breakfast run. Actually, he didn't start out with this
in mind, but one thing lead to another at breakfast. After meeting
at the pre-designated Sheetz (at least it hasn't closed yet!), he
had chosen the Path Valley Restaurant in Spring Run, PA. This
is the very beginning of the heart of the Appalachians. The
PA Turnpike has a pair of tunnels just a few miles from here.
Several stragglers joined us for breakfast; decent food, excellent
prices.
As Herr Ober was doing this ride
"on the fly", and after much coercing, our group headed
to Barneytown, PA (just south of Uniontown) in search of the COG mascot.
He wasn't there. We stopped for a few photo ops and then headed
south into the mountains again. Although this was a "short"
outing, about 125 miles, every turn was worth it.
The group slowly withered down
to 5 bikes or so as I headed south into Touristville, USA. Hint,
don't go anywhere near Gettysburg on a holiday weekend.
Thanx Rick, good time as usual.
