| AUTO-STOPPEUSES EN CHALEUR (1978)
80 Min aka Auto-stopistes calientes Hitchhikers in Heat Two at Once Vacances sexuelles The folks over at Alpha France are certainly doing their best to make the world a better place. Of course we all know that they are behind a slew of euro-erotica releases that have kept my bank account low but my spirits high. It should also be noted that they are doing their best to lift the worlds morale in these trying times by painting a vivid picture of a near utopian society. Of course, most of the credit should be given to the cast and creators in question. This time around we must all give thanks to the ubiquitous Burd Tranbaree (nee Claude Bernard-Aubert to those of pure mind and body, or fans of Checkerboard!). Tranbaree worked under his real name when making legit cinema, and only unleashed Burd for our sexually explicit viewing pleasure. Well, that and probably to make a few bucks too. Regardless of his reasons, he made some pretty memorable movies under his smutty pseudonym, including prime Brigitte Lahaie fare such as Perversion d'une jeune marie, La Maison des phantasms, and La Rabatteuse (which I highly recommend in spite of the fact that I have no idea what anyone is saying). So, what made Tranbarees work so special? Was it just that fact that he made a sexy porno film? That couldnt be, the entire Alpha France catalogue is a testament to the fact that there are many of them out there. Tranbaree figured out something that almost 30 years later the rest of the world has yet to catch up on. Im speaking about his views on monogamy, which take center stage here and in another fine film, Fivres nocturnes. If only all the women of the world could join together and collectively listen to what Tranbaree has to say here we just might live in a better place. A short description of the film should she some light on this mystery. We open with a guy named Francois driving home to his wife as he picks up two young hitchhikers. He begins to muse about how wonderful it would be to ball a lovely young stranger that he picks up on the road, and wonders if he has a chance with these two. Luckily for Francois the girls are forward enough to make the first move on him. He stutters a bit as he tells them that hes committed to his wife. The girls explain to him that they understand, but rationalize fornication by telling him that any wife would be angry if their husband fooled around with another woman, but with two women the wife would be proud of him! Ill take a minute here to digest that one. I would have thought that Francois was just a horny pig, but it took the freethinking logic of our two young heroines to enlighten Francois and the rest of us males to the reality of the situation. Hallelujah! All this time weve taken the wrong perspective when chasing tale. Weve actually been more selfish than I initially thought. I shouldnt be concerned about my own carnal desires, I should set out to make my wife proud of me! Starting tomorrow Im a new man. Moving on, Francois continues on down the road until he happens upon Brigitte Lahaie in great distress, it seems an abusive spouse is hot on her tail. Francois comes to the rescue and decides to make his wife proud again. It seems though, that the wool has in fact been pulled over his eyes as after hes done the deed he notices that Lahaies spouse is watching them. Apparently this is all a game to them, and after disrespectfully shoving Francois aside they celebrate with and RV rattling romp that is sure to please Lahaie fans. This scene left me contemplating the very foundations of my newfound philosophy. I thought Francois learned that you would only impress your wife by scoring with two women at the same time. Of course, this is Brigitte Lahaie were talking about so maybe she is impressive enough to do the job by herself. It could also be that he was simply being a Good Samaritan when Brigittes powers of seduction rendered him powerless. God knows he should be excused for that. Following this through to the end though, we see Francois did indeed pay for his lack of character with the equivalent of getting sand kicked in his face. I guess thats what makes Francois so real; hes flawed like the rest of us. He occasionally falters from his righteous path but he atones for these transgressions and continues on down the road. My faith is once again re affirmed and I continue down the road of life with Francois. CONTINUE |
