The Jimmy James Band

Jimmy James, an icon of the blues scene in Quebec, plays a soulful blend of musical styles. Never one to be pegged, his ever evolving sound pushes the limits of rhythm, blues, jazz, rock, country, fusion, classical and funk. It's a diverse mix for a master guitar player who is both grounded and rocks on the edge of wild. With fingers that move at incredible speeds and a dexterity that seems at odds with his calm and easygoing presence, he is both immensely talented and the guitar player other guitar players love to watch. For 35 years Jimmy has enlivened the Quebec music scene with regular gigs at clubs and reknowned festivals in Quebec and Ontario such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Café Campus Blues Festival and Festival Blues de Mont-Tremblant. This promises to be a great show; don't miss the opening event of the season! Listen to the band at:

The Dan Livingstone Trio

A ferocious sense of rhythm, engaging vocals, witty guitar and fiddle riffs: the Dan Livingstone Trio has been charming club and festival audiences around Québec with its own brand of roots blues and ragtime since 2004. With veteran double bass player Stephen Barry holding down the bottom end, acoustic musician and lyricist Dan Livingstone on guitar and dobro, and Bernadette Fortin on vocals, violin, and mandolin, this band will take you on a musical journey blending blues and other traditional music from the border of Mexico to the Appalachians and northwards on to Québec and the Maritimes.

Jim Robinson

After a too-long hiatus, Montreal-based singer-songwriter Jim Robinson is very much back on the music scene with the release of his fourth album, 'The Country Blues Collection'. This combination of traditional sounds and current sensibilities is very engaging and easy to listen to. His third album, 'All the Way Home', in particular the eco-inspired and time goes by, is currently getting airplay on CBC stations across Canada. A collection of bright, out-going, up-tempo songs, it was released just before Christmas 2006. All of Jim's albums have been produced by talented multi-instrumentalist Jason Lang, Penny's son, who has worked with (among others) Isabelle Boulay, Amanda Marshall and Roch Voisine. Their second collaboration, a more reflective, hypnotic series of 11 soundscapes entitled 'Working in the Dark' was released in 2005.

Emily has performed in venues from the Canadian Border to the Jersey Shore, and currently resides in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. A true "Vermont Nightingale", her voice is warm and soothing and her stage presence evokes images of a quiet evening of singing in your own living room, which, come to think of it, is exactly where we heard her for the first time last month(ok, not in your living room, but in that of Vermont friends and neighbours!). A real treat, in any case; don't miss her! You can get a taste at:

Singer/Songwriter Henry "Bud" Rice

At just seventeen, Bud Rice is a singer songwriter with an unusually mature vision. With songs describing a world in constant flux and taking on the perspective of a dizzied populace working to find a place within it, Rice has shown himself to be a true spokesperson for his generation. With influences ranging from modern indie-folk such as Patrick Watson and Bright Eyes, to classic country and blues such as Muddy Waters and Johnny Cash, his songs have a richness of texture ranging from spare acoustic to rich experimental composition. The perfect match for his songwriting style, his voice is subtly balanced and deceptively fragile. Immersed in diverse art forms since childhood, Rice is an adept guitarist and pianist who takes every opportunity to put his music into the hearts of many.
