Gas Grill BBQ Roaster
After realizing that I wasn't willing to spend $400 plus for the Hottop, I built this bbq drum roaster for less than $75.  I already owned the gas grill.  The main expense was the rotisserie. Update: this bbq roaster has been replaced by a slightly larger Diedrich 12k. Unfortunately, I can no longer roast on my back deck. My view is now of the dumpsters behind the roastery.
Front View.  This design is long and narrow.  I typically roast two heaping cups of green coffee beans, which constitutes my weekly vac pot coffee needs.

This view shows a close-up of the aluminum drum.  The holes are small enough to roast any green coffee bean.
Roasted Beans and a view of Lake Wisconsin from my deck.  The roast is not as even as my HWG, but much more evenly roasted than the photo shows.  The sun is beginning to set and shadows starting.

Drum interior.  Agitator blades at 3 o'clock and 10 o'clock in this photo. Long screws with nuts are intended to add agitation..  The round circle at the end was cut from a sheet of aluminum, using a tin shears.  No power tools were used for this project.
