| Name: Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani) Birthplace: Newton, MA Date of Birth: 07/25/1967 Education: Newton North High School Joey Tribbiani on Friends: The sexy but somewhat slow "Italian stallion" is a great guy to be Friends with. "When I have time to sit back and think about my career, it gets scary because I feel all eyes are on me now. There's less margin of error. So I try not to do that and just keep my nose to the grindstone, keep working and try to be the best I can be." TV Plex, August 11, 1996 Biography: At the tender age of eight, handsome little Matt LeBlanc had made up his mind that dirt bike racing was going to be his career. The talented rider planned on going pro until his worried mother convinced him, her only child, to be a carpenter. A restless LeBlanc didn't enjoy the "practical" profession, so he listened to a friend's advice and moved to New York right after high school graduation to look for work as a model. By 1987 he had obtained parts in international television commercials for Levi's 501 jeans, Heinz Ketchup, Coca-Cola and Doritos. In 1989, he earned a role in the TV sitcom TV 101. He also made a guest appearance on TV's Married with Children in a role that won him his own spin-off series, Top of the Heap, which was reworked a year later as Vinnie and Bobby. Although neither show lasted, Matt's career took off when he was cast as actor Joey Tribbiani in the 1994 smash sitcom Friends. His first major movie role was in the box office flop Ed, but he redeemed himself in the 1998 film Lost in Space. In his spare time, LeBlanc still enjoys racing, but he's matured to cars now.
