She looked at the mess on the floor, shards of broken mirror coated the freshly laid carpet. I'd better get this cleaned up before Sam gets home, he's going to kill me for breaking his precious dresser.
Melissa bent down and picked up one of the larger piece of broken mirror, being very careful not to cut herself. It felt like an ordinary mirror, she examined it further. Looking into the reflective surface she saw Sam, he was wearing the clothes that he had left the house in earlier this morning. His face, hands and arms covered with blood at his feet she could see the body of a woman, lifeless, long red hair covering her peaceful face.
Although Melissa couldn't see the women's face she knew who it was.
Down the hall she heard the rattle of the lock and the front door squeaking open, Sam was home!
Quickly she jumped up, caught her foot on the brick that had been used for a makeshift leg and tumbled onto the pile of shattered mirror, a large shard pierced her throat, severing her jugular vein. A bright red squirt pulsated out of the hole in her neck, ran down her throat and pooled on the new carpet below her.
"Honey, I'm home." Echoed up the hallway and fell on deaf ears.
