So here�s the scoop. I�m a busy dude. I haven�t done a commentary since July and I�m sorry. I have a job, I�ve just started school again, I have to train, I wrestle, I have a social life, a family, and blah blah blah, I�m busy. Oh ya, and I can be lazy. But I�ll stick to my busy-ness argument. Another reason I haven�t done a commentary in awhile is because so much has been going on, in my life, and in the wrestling part of my life, that I didn�t know how to put it into a commentary. So... I�m just gonna give you a very quick capsule of the past 2 months of my life to let you get the "jist" of what has happened.
So earlier this summer I wrote a commentary about the moral good of wrestling. At that time I emailed Ted Dibiase trying to get on a Dibiase show, if possible. I got a response from one of his associates telling me that they usually didn�t bring in indy guys from Canada unless they are a "name." I�m just lowly Cody Steele, thus, I don�t go down. I figured that, and I just wanted to let Ted and his guys know that I appreciate what they are doing and if they need my help, I�d love to be a part of it. So that was that.
About a month later, I got an email from a guy who works with Ted name Bobby Riedel. He tells me he has good news for me and says to call him in NY. So I do and we talk wrestling. He tells me that he has read my commentaries on this site and likes my point of view on the wrestling business. He told me he would like to try and get me on a Ted show when they come to Canada and I should send him a tape. I was already in the process of putting a package together to send to the Fed, so I sent him one too. So that week I sent a promo package to WWE, TNA, and Bobby Riedel. About a week later I get a call from Bobby. He tells me he loves my tape. He popped huge for me and put my work over big time. Assuming you might be reading this Bobby, thanks. Your interest, and in me means a lot to me. So he immediately started putting me over to the guys down in NY and told me he had some work for me. He was setting up a really small scale church show in Staten Island, NY. He wanted me to come and bring down some guys. I made plans to bring down, TJ, Showtime, Hippy, and Shawn Spears. All was set, however, the show got cancelled and we didn�t get to go. Ah well. I�m sure I�ll be going down there some time in the near future.
As far as Dibiase�s fed goes, Riedel said he was getting me on the show. However, (here�s some more bad news) the church they were performing at was also doing a drama-type thing, so the wrestling was going to be cut short to only about 3 matches. Therefore, because I was just going to be curtain jerking with another young buck, my match got cut. No biggy. I�m still gonna go to the show and check it out. As far as I know, the show is gonna be in Oshawa on Oct. 4th. I�ll keep you posted.
So, out of all of that, you might think I got nothing out of it. You�re wrong. I made a new friend in Bobby, and some much needed criticism on my work. Also, I have been invited to Ted�s show, so anything I can do to help his cause is awesome. That�s all I wanted to do anyways. So there ya go. :) I also (as said earlier) sent a package to the WWE. I have since sent another one, and plan on sending a tape every 3 weeks or so. I�ll just keep hounding them into submission and they have to give Cody Steele a try-out. :) Since then, one of my best friends in this business, Showtime Eric Young, did get a dark match AND a TV match on Velocity with the WWE. So awesome. I was there with Showtime in Wasaga Beach when me, Showtime, Hippy, and Shawn Spears watched Showtime vs. FBI on a small TV in the Chicken Coop. :) Here� a shout out to the owner of the Chicken Coop..... Sorry for keeping you open, but hey, you made some extra dough with the drunken stragglers that came in after us.
Ok. So that�s that. I have also had some of the best matches of my career over the summer. I had one of my favourite matches ever against Kris Chambers at the last NSP show. I accidentally chopped the ring post in that match and thus fractured my hand. Chambers took advantage of my injury and basically spent the rest of the match beating on my hand. He didn�t know I had fractured it though. But it made the match that much better. :) I got a lot of feedback from the boys in the back after that match and all of it was positive. If I�m over with the boys, I�m a happy dude.
I also worked my first ever BCW show last weekend against my trainer "Dangerboy" Derek Wylde. We curtain jerked. The show was packed and it was awesome to be heel again. :) We had the crowd the whole match. Dangerboy flawlessly hit the inside-out bomb for the 1,2,3. Awesome stuff. I also hit my finish in the match and smoked Dangerboy in the teeth. I still have "Dangerteeth" indents on my bicep. I mean come on people, have you seen that guys chops! Besides his teeth, Dangerboy is awesome, and there�s no one I�d rather be in a BCW ring with. Oh ya, BCW owns the old WCW ring, so wrestling in that was sweet.
Hmmmm.... what else. Oh ya, I�m going to officially join "Team Weens". That means I�m gonna start wearing brief style gimmicks to the ring. That�s right baby. I�m gonna wear what wrestlers are supposed to wear... WEENS! I got them drawn up and ordered yesterday. They should be ready for the NSP show on October 5th where I plan on unveiling my new look. Should be sweet. (Hey, I heard weens make you look 15 lbs heavier. Let�s hope so!)
Well, I know there is a lot more, but I�m busy. I guess I should tell you about the NSP show this Saturday called "On Deadly Ground." This show is gonna be awesome. Not like any NSP show isn�t awesome, but this one is especially awesome. I finally get the chance to once again get my hands on JC Owens and the NSP Independent Title. JC Owens has done nothing but tarnish the honorable name of the Independent Title, and it is my goal to take that belt away from him and bring respect, honor, dignity, and hard work back to the Independent Championship. Come see me do that Sept 20th at the Polish Hall in The Falls.
