SPONDON DYNAMOS MATCH REPORT (AWAY FIXTURE)

Todays opponents Spondon Dynamo who are rooted to the bottom of the division after only two wins from the 18 games they have played this season should on paper be a formality after the boys beat them 7-0 earlier on in the season, for today`s game the weather was a lot better than the previous week as the sun was shinning but there was still a slight breeze blowing. From the kick off the Spondon Dynamo side resigned themselves to defending in numbers to try to limit Codnor to very few chances in front of goal this however worked against them as Codnor could have been 4-0 to the good inside 5 minutes with the closest chance falling to R.Burke whose shot hit the top of the crossbar before going over, the boys relentless pressure finally paid off inside 15 minutes when F.Kirk opened the scoring with a header after a corner by L.Wilson putting Codnor into a 1-0 lead, minutes later from a second corner by L.Wilson which was cleared initially by a Spondon defender to the edge of the area was picked up by M.Housley who took one touch before rifling home a super strike into the top left hand corner for 2-0 to the boys, Spondon were struggling to contain a rampant Codnor who were pushing for more goals and in the space of ten minutes R.Burke scored his first hat-rick of the season after being set up by L.Wilson, R.Cooke and F.Kirk respectively taking Codnor to half time with a 5-0 lead.

All the substitutions were made for the start of the second half and it took just ten minutes for one of them to stretch the boys lead to 6-0 when F.Kirk again became provider with a square pass which T.Childs slid home into the bottom corner, Codnors seventh goal came shortly after when T.Sanderson crossed the ball to the back post and J.Miles ran on before stroking the ball home from 2 yards out for 7-0. Spondon were not getting a look in as it was mainly all one way traffic and Codnors next goal was of the highest quality which turned out to be the best goal of the game from a corner by J.Griffiths which was met by R.Cooke with a bullet header which left the Spondon keeper no chance to make the scoreline 8-0, in the last ten minutes Codnor stretched their lead further on two occasions the first came when J.Griffiths played a defence splitting ball to T.Childs who used his excellent pace to run through and score his second of the game from 4 yards out to take the boys to 9-0 their final goal came when T.Childs returned the favour by releasing the ball to J.Griffiths as the keeper came out to close down the space which allowed J.Griffiths the simple task of slotting the ball home to make the final score 10-0. The score line could of quite easily have been doubled on another day but over all it was a good team performance and the boys confidence just keeps on growing.
