RIVERSIDE MATCH REPORT (AWAY FIXTURE)
Against a Riverside team lying 4th in the league before this game Codnor went away looking to
keep up their winning run whilst trying to extend their lead at the top of the table. From
the kick-off both sides battled away cancelling each other out during the first half with
the chances to either side not being taken until a last minute goal from a telling cross
from J.Miles was shot home by J.Griffiths after he stole in round the back of his marker
to take Codnor into a 1-0 lead after a evenly contested half.
Codnor then began to increase
the pressure on Riverside from the start of the second half and the various chances they had
were squandered but Codnor finally scored there 2nd goal in the 17th minute when J.Miles with
another low cross into the box was not dealt with properly by the Riverside keeper and
J.Griffiths pounced from close range to score his first brace of the season and to score for
the second week running. Codnor were now in control of the game but futher chances to increase
their lead went begging but in the dying minutes substitute L.Mckenna wrapped up the points
with his 3rd goal this season to make it 3-0 after another set-up by J.Miles from close range.
An excellent performance after Codnor kept their first clean sheet of the season so far with
C.Buxton outstanding in defence to give the Codnor keeper a quite second half.
