CHELLASTON BOYS MATCH REPORT (AWAY FIXTURE)

Away today at Chellaston, Codnor had the opportunity to go seven points clear of the nearest rivals Adasc who didnt have a match as they had already played a game more than everyone else.

Codnor went straight at Chellaston from the kick off and were rewarded with a goal from J.Hind after a cross from J.Miles wasnt dealt with properly by Chellastons keeper and the boys defender had the simple opportunity of putting the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0, constant pressure on the Chellaston goal resulted in Codnor scoring their second goal after ten minutes when L.Wilson sent T.Richardson clear and he lifted a shot over the advancing Chellaston keeper, Chellaston were struggling to get out their own half as Codnor were bombarding their opposition`s goal mouth with wave after wave of corners and crosses and the boys increased their lead to 3-0 when J.Griffiths crossed the ball over and F.Kirk stabbed the ball home from close range. Codnor stretched their lead further to 4-0 on twenty five minutes when an excellent corner from J.Miles was met by F.Kirk who struck the ball home with a superb half volley, with half time approaching R.Burke made the score 5-0 when he buried his shot into the bottom corner after T.Richardson had put the ball into the penalty area and the score remained the same upto the interval.

Within minutes of the second half beginning substitute R.Cooke`s left wing cross to F.Kirk led to Codnor scoring their sixth goal and Chellaston didnt have a answer to the boys dominance. F.Kirk ended the scoring with his fourth goal of the game when his shot took a deflection before resting in the back of the net making the final score 7-0. Codnor`s wayward finishing at times cost them from doubling the margin but their performance had been much more improved from a positional point as opposed to last week.

They still remain unbeaten with this ninth win of the season which keeps them in pole position but they will need to put more of their chances away against stronger opposition in the forthcoming weeks ahead if they are to keep the chasing teams behind them come the end of the season.
