BOULTON LANE P.R. MATCH REPORT (HOME FIXTURE)
Codnor kept their 100% league winning run intact with their tenth win on the trot against a Boulton Lane
team who have been steadily improving since the start of the season. They found themselves fortunate to
still be in the game as they equalised to pull level Codnor`s earlier strike by L.Wilson who`s goal went
in after the ball hit the under side of the bar after being setup by R.Burke. Codnor kept Boulton lanes
defence busy but didnt make the most of the other openings they created whilst playing some excellent
football and boulton lane were only resigned to the odd counter attack and both teams went in 1-1 at the
interval.
One defensive substitution was made for the start of the second half allowing playmaker M.Housley
to revert back to his normal midfield position and within three minutes he put Codnor back in front with a
shot which rebounded off the Boulton Lane keeper and from close range he made no mistake and tucked the ball
home to make it 2-1, J.Miles then increased the boys lead to 3-1 after he played a one- two with F.Kirk,
Codnor were now beginning to find the target and finally being rewarded for all their efforts. R.Cooke
stretched the boys lead further to 4-1 with a precise strike on goal from thirty yards out when he picked
up the ball from a goal kick and he seized the opportunity to try his luck as he saw the keeper was way
off his goal line, minutes later leading scorer F.Kirk made it 5-1 with a shot that squirmed through the
unfortunate Boulton Lane keeper`s hand but he fully deserved his goal for his contribution to the team.
Substitute T.Richardson who had only been on the pitch minutes stretched Codnor`s lead to 6-1 when he
chipped the ball over the keeper from close range, Boulton Lane very rarely attacked the Codnor goal
but managed to pull a goal back close to the final whistle as S.Neal made an excellent first save with
his feet but was unlucky as the ball rebounded to their other unmarked striker and he tucked the ball
from close in to make the final score 6-2.
