ADASC MATCH REPORT (HOME FIXTURE)
In today's game at home Codnor came up against local rivals A.d.a.s.c in this top of the table
clash knowing a defeat would mean Codnor dropping down into second place and A.d.a.s.c replacing
them at the top. We were expecting more of a test today as the results A.d.a.s.c have had in
the past weeks had climbed them up the table and put them within 2 points of Codnor.
Codnor were
slow in starting and found themselves a goal behind in the first five minutes as the boys defence
who had only conceded one goal in the last three games were caught napping when they should have
cleared their lines more comfortably , this seemed to wake Codnor up and the lads started putting
pressure on the A.d.a.s.c goal and they were rewarded when J.Miles picked out F.Kirk with a
pin-point corner to level things up. Codnor were now having most of the possession and their
second goal arrived minutes later after another well taken corner was met by J.Griffiths and
he steered home with a close range header, A.d.a.s.c were being penned in their own half for
long periods due to constant pressure and Codnor increased their lead with one of their best
moves of the game falling finally to L.Wilson who struck the ball home from inside the area after
beating the A.d.a.s.c keeper at his near post after an excellent four man move. A.d.a.s.c were
still looking dangerous on the occasions they broke forward and they pulled a goal back with
twenty-minutes played only for Codnor to score straight after with their fourth goal of the
game from F.Kirk after another excellent move and they went in 4-2 at half-time.
Codnor made
one change in defence at the interval to try and tighten things up at the back as Codnor pressed
forward looking for futher goals, five minutes into the half F.Kirk completed his hat-rick after
an excellent cross from Codnor's left winger J.Miles, F.Kirk then became provider with a neat
one to in the area with strike partner J.Griffiths and he slotted it home ending with a brace.
Codnor's defence kept A.d.a.s.c quiet throught the second half winning the battle of the mid-field
as the boys chased every ball and M.Housley got his just reward with two goals in the space of
minutes after excellent passes from R.Burke and F.Kirk to end with a brace making the final score
8-2.
An excellent result keeping their winning run intact and maintaining their position at the
top of the table whilst putting a five point cushion between the two teams and with a game in hand.
