The Time Tunnel comic book was produced in 1966 by Gold Key, who specialised in adapting TV series (most notably Star Trek) into strip form. There were only two issues of Time Tunnel, which between them produced five short stories that were very much in the spirit of the series.
There were some discrepancies though. For some reason General Kirk was absent from the comic strips, although he does appear in photo inserts on the covers of both issues. Dr. Swain is presented as the sole head of Project: Tic Toc. Also Doug wears a much more casual costume than the Norfolk suit he wore on TV. In the strip he sports a natty zip-up jacket over a black and white striped t-shirt. Tony's roll neck is yellow rather than green.
The Time vortex is suitably surreal with giant chain molecules and wavy lines. As Doug and Tony tumble through it they have little conversations, usually of the "I wonder where...or when we'll land next" variety. Meanwhile back at Project: Tic Toc, Ann and Ray spout technobabble lifted directly from the series. Phrases such as: "Reduce your limits" and "We need pressure magnification" are used frequently.
Both issues have wonderful eye-catching painted covers. Issue 1 has the Tic Toc team, (including General Kirk) at the controls of the Tunnel, as the viewing screen presents images of Tony making a spacewalk and Doug being chased by a dinosaur! Issue 2 has Doug (in familiar Norfolk suit) and Tony leaping from the Tunnel at two Nazis armed with ray guns, while the D-Day landings take place in the background. The comics both feature pin-ups, photos and background information on the show.

THE CONQUERORS: Nazis from the year 2068 plan to change history by using their own time machine to travel back to D-Day and reverse the outcome with futuristic weapons. It's up to Doug and Tony to stop them.
THE CAPTIVES June 25 1876: Custer's Last Stand. The time travellers escape the captivity of Sitting Bull and the Sioux only to be taken prisoner again by General Custer and the 7th Cavalry. (NB. This story has many similarities to the TV episode `Massacre', but the Native Americans are treated with far less sympathy in the comic than on screen.)
