Controls

--------

Start Button......Use this to pause the game. There are a lot of options for

you to choose from this menu, including a map, items,

weapons, and objectives screen. To unpause the game, press

start again. When you first turn the demo on, you will need

to press start to begin the game.

Triangle..........Use your sword. One of Dante's main attacks is to use a

gigantic sword. You can find many different combos to do

with it. Experiment, see what you can come up with.

Circle............Jump. This button can make Dante jump into the air. If you

jump while pushing forward on the left analog stick, you

can do a summer Sault through the air. If you jump at a

wall, press Circle again to kick off the wall, sometimes too

reach secret places. You can also roll on the ground to

                  avoid enemy attacks.

X.................Use this button to use your gun while holding R1. You can

also cancel menu selections with it.

Square............While holding R1, this too can fire your gun

R1................Lock onto the closet enemy. If you want to lock onto a

different enemy, then just press it again.

L1................When the power gauge is full in the top left hand corner

of the screen, press this button to change into a devil

form of Dante. It can run faster and do more damage than

Dante can usually do. The only problem is that it doesn't

                  last for a long time.

R2................Using this will act as a hotkey for taking out your map.

Much quicker than going through the start menu.

L2................Use this to taunt the enemy

R3................Once you have acquired the proper items, pressing this

will let you choose between using Alastor or Ifrite.

Red Orbs

--------

Sometimes, when you defeat enemies, red orbs will pop out of their corpses.

Get them. They are important. They allow you to buy new weapons/moves at the

start of each new mission. You also need them to open doors. You can also

pick them up off the ground without having to fight an enemy. Fighting an

enemy and getting a combo rating of Stylish will give you more red orbs than

defeating an enemy with a Dull combo rating.

Green Orbs

----------

From a select few enemies, a green orb will pop out of their corpse. These

orbs will refill your entire health bar. They can be found in lots of places

on easy mode, but get harder to find on later difficulties.

Yellow Orbs

-----------

These are perhaps the most important orb. At least in some respect...The

yellow orbs act as continues. When you die, you use up an orb and are put

back into the level. When you run out of yellow orbs completely, it's Game

Over. Don't let that happen...I'm not 100% sure on this, but you might be

able to buy some from a shop.

Blue Orb Fragments

------------------

You will find these throughout the castle. When you get four of them, your

total amount of health you can get is increased. You can buy some of them in

shops. But when you buy them in shops, they're whole orbs, boot fragments.

There are enough orbs in the game to make two complete bars of vitality. It's

a tough search, but worth it because you'll almost never die.

Purple Orbs

-----------

These orbs can raise the amount of devil trigger gauges you have. The more

you have the longer devil trigger mode will last. To get them, simply buy

them from the shop thing before a mission starts. These orbs, you cannot

find throughout the castle, you must buy them.

Devil Trigger

-------------

There are three Japanese symbols under your health bar. When all three are

lit up, you can use your Devil Trigger. Press L1 to transform into a devil.

While in this form, Dante is more powerful and can move a lot quicker. After

a short period of time, Dante will return to normal. To return him to Devil

Mode, wait until the three meters are charged up again. To do this, fight

enemies.

Saving/Loading

---------------

After you complete a mission, you're prompted if you want to save or not.

Choose your answer. If you want to save, you'll be taken to a screen where

you choose memory card slot 1 or 2. Then, choose a file. When it's done

saving, press triangle twice to return to the game. To load the game, go to

"Load Game" when you boot up DMC. Choose the memory card slot then choose

the file. You must have a previously saved game to load.

Game Basics

-----------

Have any of you played "Onimusha: Warlords" for the Sony PlayStation 2? Well,

that game involved sword battling and item collecting. Well, Devil May Cry

plays VERY similar to Onimusha: Warlords. But the control is a little

different. Dante can now jump and slash downward and use guns, unlike

Onimusha. Well, the game basically puts you in control of Dante. Around you,

monsters produce themselves and you must use your swords to kill all sorts

of demons. You can use an assortment of guns, which have infinite ammo. Be

warned that using guns gives you less Red Orbs (See Orbs section) after each

demon dies.

Some guns are slower, but stronger than others, so study the Monster List to

see which enemies are quick, slow, strong and weak. Believe it or not, some

weapons you may have forgotten about which you have used in the first few

missions may come in handy during later missions, either because of their

quickness or the monster is particularly weak against that weapon. Though

many monsters may look similar, some actually attack differently or throw

different types of melee weapons. You must try killing some quicker than

others. There are several strategies for defeating different monsters and

bosses. Refer to this subsection.

COMBAT TIPS

-----------

To defeat monsters using a general strategy, you must learn to jump. The most

effective way to defeat almost any type of monster is to jump and then press

the Sword or Gun button while in the air to deliver a fatal blow. This

strategy is very effective against all monsters and bosses, especially

monsters that usually block (Nelo Angelo). Because they don't have any sort

of defense on their heads, attacking from the top is most effective.

Against groups of monsters, again, you will want to learn to actually jump.

Jumping away from groups that gain up on you, not only damages them greatly

when you hit them, but you avoid getting hurt! For more specific strategies,

please refer to the Monster and Boss sections below.

DIFFICULTY OPTIONS

------------------

There are 2 difficulty modes in Devil May Cry. They are Normal Mode and Easy

Automatic Mode. When you start a new game, you must play the first mission

in Normal Mode. Once you beat Normal Mode, you get a choice before starting

Mission 2.

You can stay on Normal Mode or switch over to Easy Automatic Mode. It is your

choice, but you should use the first Mission to determine that. If you had

some difficulty in Mission 1, in maneuvering and attacking, you will want

Easy Automatic Mode. If you had a fairly easy breeze through, or you simply

want the challenge, you will want to stay under Normal Mode. The choice is

yours.

EASY AUTOMATIC MODE

-------------------

This is the mode for beginners. In this mode, you won't have to hold R1 to

shoot a gun, which makes the controls much easier. Also, Dante will have

learned several sword techniques already, which will have taken mastering in

Normal Mode. Dante can resist attacks much more this time. When an enemy hits

him, it takes less damage. Dante also jumps and attacks much better than in

Normal Mode, which is good for bosses. In layman's terms, it is a simplified

Normal Mode for beginners. If you really want the easy challenge, then select

this mode. If you are thinking about it, check Normal Mode out, first.

NORMAL MODE

-----------

This is the mode for intermediate and advanced players. In this mode, you

will have to hold R1 to shoot a gun, which makes the controls much harder.

Also, Dante will have to learn several sword techniques, which will have

taken no mastering in Easy Automatic Mode. Dante can't resist attacks much

more this time. When an enemy hits him, it takes more damage than in the

other mode. Dante also jumps and attacks much worse than in Normal Mode,

which is bad for bosses. In layman's terms, it is a difficult mode for

advanced gamers. If you really want the hard challenge, then select this mode

WHICH MODE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

---------------------------

Again, if you had a hard time in Mission 1, then Easy Automatic Mode is the

way to go. If you had considerable control over the Mission 1 situation, then

you should stick to Normal Mode. I recommend that first time gamers to this

take game Easy Automatic, because the controls get a little more complicated

than in Resident Evil/Biohazard CODE: Veronica X/Complete. But anyone willing

for the challenge should take the opposing mode, Normal Mode. The choice is

yours, but the walkthrough will cover both modes at the same time.

 Story

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

According to legend, 2000 years ago while snow was falling on a clear,

freezing night on Earth, a fierce devil prince was born deep inside the

darkest pit of the netherworld.

He grew rapidly. Within a short time he gained his full powers and took over

the Devil throne. His first act as ruler of all devils was to declare himself

emperor of the Devil Kingdom. His next feat was an invasion on the human

world. His plan was to conquer it and rule both the lower and upper realms.

But a power-full Dark Knight known as Sparda took pity on humans for their

brief, transient lives.

In fierce battles, he defeated all of the Devil's rulers armies and finally

imprisoned the emperor himself in a sealed vault. Having achieved his

victory, Sparda abandoned the Devil Kingdom to live in the human world. He

married a human woman and soon fathered a half devil, half human son. But

beware, mankind. After 2000 years, the cursed Devil Emperor will be released

and will return to invade the human world once

again.

Characters

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Dante

-----

Dante is a bad dude. There's not really anything else to say. He was trained

in a martial arts style that is far superior to anything ever seen before.

On top of that, he isn't 100% human! He is half human and gets this, half

demon! The demon part gives him special powers as well as increased strength.

He lost his mother and sister to Mundus when he was smaller. He now owns a

business known as Devil May Cry. A business that specializes in the

destruction of demons and other related things.

Trish

-----

She is Dante’s newest customer, and she has a really big job for him. Trish

is a hauntingly beautiful woman who invites Dante to Mallet Island, gateway

to the devil world. She possesses supernatural powers and vast knowledge

about devils. It is said she knows Dante's secret history. But what is she

true identity and purpose?

Sarda

-----

Dante's father. He is Dante's enemy throughout the game. Sarda was the

original Dark Night. He was the one who sealed Mundus away for eternity, or

so he thought. Sarda then left the Devil realm and went to the human realm,

where he married and had a child. The child was half human, half demon, they

called him Dante.

Virgil

------

Not much is known about this game except that you have to fight him. He is

rumored to be Dante’s brother, perhaps we'll find out in the upcoming sequel

*crosses fingers that there'll be a sequel*

Mundus

------

Mundus is one huge S.O.B. The guy is just HUGE. He is the one that is going

to rise up and take over the human realm. He was stopped by Sarda long ago,

now, will he be stopped by the son of Sparda? He is a really hard boss in the

later difficulty sections. For a strategy, look to either the Mission 22

walkthrough or to the bosses section. Please, if you have a better strategy,

then feel free to drop me a line at the email located at the top of the guide

Devil  Arms

Alastor

-------

What It Does: This sword is covered in a strange glowing light. It has more

power than the average sword and can take out those damn

puppet things usually with one hit. It used to belong to a

warrior named Alastor, hence the name.

Where Is It : The sword is located in Mission 2. Run up the path and take

out the puppets. At the end, before you go through the door,

look to the right to see a sword sticking out of a stone

              statue.

Ifrit

-----

What It Does: Ifrit is a pair of gauntlets. When wearing them, you summon

the power of Ifrit. A demon from the depths of the underworld.

When you punch, your hand will be engulfed in flames. When you

kick, your foot will be engulfed in flames. After you have

acquired the right skill, when you jump, your entire body is

engulfed in flames! These things can do some serious damage.

It puts Dante's martial arts skills to the true test. You also

have your Devil Trigger Mode still in tact.

Where Is It:  You get the fiery gauntlets after you jump from platform to

              platform in Mission 9

Force Edge

----------

What It Does: It is the sword Dante starts with. It is a basic sword, with

no real special powers. But it is strong against the first few

monsters in the game. This is the sword that Sarda, Dante's

father, left for him. It is a powerful sword in the hand of an

expert, but it isn't even the full version of the sword.

Where Is It:  Dante begins with this sword.

Sarda

-----

What It Does: This is the sword that Dante's father used. It is the full

version of the force edge. It's a very powerful sword, and it

almost looks like a scythe. It covers Dante's entire back. It's

THAT big. It will do more damage than the Alastor for a lot of

enemies, but there's no Devil Trigger Mode. Oh well, the extra

              power makes up for it.

Where Is It:  At the beginning of mission 18, a cut scene will begin. When

it's over, you'll have your brand spanking new Sparda

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

G u n s

Pistol

------

What It Does: You hold two guns when you have this equipped, two pistols to

be exact. You fire both of them at the same time. They aren't

that powerful, they usually take about 7 well placed shots to

              take out an enemy completely.

Where Is It:  You start the game out with it

Shotgun

-------

What It Does: This is the only other gun available in the demo. It is a

really cool one at that. Dante holds it above his head. When

you fire it, he binges it down at the speed of light and lets a

couple of rounds off. One or two well-placed hits will take

              out most enemies.

Where Is It:  This gun takes a little bit of searching to find. In Mission 1,

go to the library. Go up to the second floor. Across from the

picture where you get the rusty key is a desk. Slash it with

your sword. It will crumble to pieces. All that's left is the

Shotgun. Pick it up with X and equip it through the pause menu.

Grenade Gun

-----------

What It Does: This gun will fire a single shell, packed with explosive

grenade power! The gun will knock back a lot of enemies,

sometimes knocking them off their feet. For other enemies,

it's a waste of time to use it because it reloads to slow and

they'll get to knock YOU off your feet.

Where Is It:  It is located in Mission 8 outside the drawbridge. Head around

the turning thing to find it on a corpse!

Needle Gun

----------

What It Does: This gun is the only weapon that can be used underwater. Since

you are in first person mode, simply fire the gun and move the

pad to hit enemies. There isn't even a curser, so it's a good

thing this game has auto aim. It can ONLY be used underwater

and not above, on the surface.

Where Is It:  It's found on the ghost ship in Mission 12. It's in the first

              cabin right beside the Blades.

Nightmare Beta

--------------

What It Does: This gun was formed in the Underworld. It takes power from the

operator and fires it out in a burst of energy that can bounce

off walls. Using it will use up your Devil Trigger Gauge.

Where Is It:  Find this in Mission 18. After you enter inside the mirror

into the dark dimension, it's sitting on a bed, waiting for

               someone to grab it.

Soaring Blast

-------------

Weapons Involved: Sword + Gun (Pistol or Shotgun)

How To Do:        Hold R1. Now, press Triangle while holding the analog stick

in the direction away from Dante. You should be doing this

in front of an enemy by the way. Your sword will lunge

into the enemy and throw him up in the air. While still

holding R1, press X. This will make Dante pull out his gun

and shoot at the demon while in the air! Very cool. The

body will explode if you use the shotgun.

Rush of Pain

------------

Weapons Involved: Guns + sword

How To Do:        I have a cool combo for devil may cry....I call it the

"Rush of Pain...but u can call it whatever u want.  First

do the High Time move, blast the enemy (preferably the

handguns) for a little while, then High Time it again,

finally end it with a Stinger.  I only tried with the

Marionettes cause they're too easy to kill.

Submitted by Dustin Pen

Air Strike

----------

Weapons Involved: Sword

How To Do:        Jump into the air and then press O. Press O while in

the air. Dante will jump and then slash down, doing VERY

CRUCIAL damage to the enemy. This is important against

                  some bosses

Submitted by CVXFREAK

Continuous Slash

----------------

Weapons Involved: Sword

How To Do:        If you press the sword button (O) fast enough, Dante might

just keep stabbing/slashing the enemy. This involves

pressing the button MANY, MANY times! Mash it if you have

to! The enemy will most likely die after this! This can be

                  effective against several bosses.

Submitted by CVXFREAK

Continuous Punch

----------------

Weapons Involved: Infrite

How To Do:        If you press the Infrite button (O) fast enough, Dante

might just keep punching the enemy. This involves pressing

the button MANY, MANY times! Mash it if you have to! The

enemy will most likely die after this! This can be

                  effective against several bosses.

Submitted by CVXFREAK

Devil Shock

-----------

Weapons Involved: Devil Trigger, sword

How To Do:        You'll need the Air Raid for this one.  First uppercut the

enemy (hold back then hold circle to do the move) after u

Does that quickly change into Satan or whatever then shock

                  the thing till it dies

Submitted by Dustin Pen

Endless Dance

-------------

Weapons Involved: sword + guns

How To Do:        First, you must be holding the R1 button. Hold back and

then press O. You will slash your enemy into the air. Then,

whip out your guns and blast him a little bit. However,

don't finish him off just yet. Let him fall down, but

before he reaches the ground tap the 0 button twice, so

that you do a 1-2 slash combo, then pause for a moment, and

just as Dante's about to lower his sword, rapidly tap on

the O button. This makes Dante stab his enemy with the

sword over and over. Usually, if you keep tapping, you'll

finish off with a big stab that sends your enemy flying.

Don't finish him off like that, though. Before you finish,

do an upward slash again, and begin the combo all over

again. When you sense that the guy's about to die, finish

him off with a huge downward slash or a stinger. This is a

great combo because it just keeps coming, and gives you

many more style points than shooting your enemy to death

does. One part of this combo that's very tricky is

interrupting the stabbing part with an upward slash. I'm

not entirely certain that it can be done every time you

attempt the combo. I have done it, but it may have just

been because I was hit by another enemy, or the guy I was

hitting blocked me, and that somehow interrupted the flow

of the stabbing. But give it a shot, anyway.

Introduction

------------

After the opening cut scene, you'll be standing on a path. Run up it. On the

left, there's a yellow orb. Keep heading up the path until you reach the

little hole. Go through it to begin your first mission.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 1

~ Curse of the Bloody Puppets ~

Objective: Break the evil spell and open the cursed door

Now, I can't really help you in this first part of the mission, you'll have

to do it yourself. Just run around the mansion type room until you have

gotten all 45 red orbs. now, head to the ground floor and look for a red

door. Press the X button, an option will ask you if you want to use 45 red

orbs to open the door, say yes. In the next room, break open the suits of

armor to get some red orbs. Go through the dark passage and up the spiral

staircase. Here, there's a puppet leaning against the wall, not moving, but

by the name of the mission, you should be able to figure out what happens.

Anyways, jump on top of the trunk here. Now, jump up and grab onto the ledge

above you. In this room, grab the rusty key from the corner. As you turn to

leave, the puppet will throw a knife at you. Turn around and chop him to

pieces.

Now, drop down the  hole, kill the puppets here and leave the room. Head

back to the main hall. Here, open up the big green door using the rusty key.

There are quite a few puppets hanging from the ceiling, but they're not

moving. Head over to the top right hand corner. There are two sets of armor

here. Destroy them to find a crest hidden behind them. Slash at it with your

sword until all the lights are lit up. It will turn into an elevator and

bring you down to the basement. Here, you must fight a lot of puppets, when

they're all dead, the wooden doors they came out of will close, and the

elevator will return to the ground floor. Hop on it to go back to the

previous room. Remember those non-moving puppets on the ceiling? Well,

they're moving now. Kill all of them to break the curse on the door. Go

through it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 2

      ~ Judge of Death ~

Objective: Open the door of the Cathedral

Start by running south. Some where in this hallway, a portal will appear and

enemies will start to poor out of it. When this happens, just keep slashing

away until they're dead. As you go up the hallway, the view will shift to

behind you. There is a door on your left, but it's locked and needs a Rusty

Key. Continue on down the hallway until you reach the door. Turn to the

right and examine the picture. A cut scene will start, when it's over, you

will have the Alastor! Go through. Now, you're in a library. if you want,

you can go over to the books and press X to find out about them. When you're

done with that, go underneath the bridge to the other side of the room. Go

up the stairs. Notice that there is a big tree blocking the entrance to a

doorway. You need to find another way through there. Anyways, when you get

to the top of the stirs, head south. Go to the left. Slash at the desk so

that a Shotgun will pop out.

Pick it up. Now, head the other way. Go to the picture and get the ruted key.

Now, jump over the balcony. Go through the doorway and back down the hallway.

Go back to the doorway that needed the rusty key. Open it up and go through.

In here, there is a fountain. Run to the other side of it. Run into the

force filed that's surrounding the lion thing. You will be sent backwards.

The lion will speak, telling you that you need a sign. A lot of enemies will

start to appear. Kill all of them until there isn't anymore coming through

the portal. Now, jump over the broken section of the stairs. Go up them.

Then, jump to the second floor. Run around the room, jumping over the gaps in

the floor. When you get to the end, go through the door.

When you go through, run down the hall. There are a lot of enemies to kill,

so do it with the shotgun. When they're all gone, continue down the hall.

Take the first door on the right. Inside, slash at the coffin with your

sword. It will start to be pushed backwards. When it's back against the wall,

a secret door under it will be revealed. Press X while standing on top of it.

You will be plunged into the darkness below. Walk forward and grab the Staff

of Judgment. A door will open up behind you. Go through it. Now, you're in

the library again, beside the big tree that had grown to block the entrance

to a room. Try to exit the room through the big double doors. A hand will

appear in it. Making it impossible for you to leave.

3 Grim Reaper persons will fly down from the ceiling. They aren't hard to

kill, at least not when there's one left. When there's all 2 of them, they

get tough because when you try to attack one, one will attack your back. Just

use your shotgun or pistols while moving around the room constantly. This is

a sure-fire way to beat them. You can also use your sword if you feel you

have to. Now, when they're all dead, the hand in the door will shatter into

glass. Exit through the door. At your feet, there are a lot of cockroaches.

If you want, you can blow them up, they turn into a gross brown ooze. Eww.

After that, examine the picture of the judge on the wall. It will ask you if

you want to put the Staff of Judgment in it. Say yes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 3

      ~ Destroyer of Ardor ~

Objective: Overcome the trial and acquire the Pride of Lion.

Well, doesn't SOUND too difficult, does it? Well, guess what, it ISN'T. When

you start, run towards the Pride of Lion. It's sitting on a red pedestal, and

glowing with a golden light. Examine it. It will tell you that you must face

a trail before you become worthy enough to take the Pride of Lion. It will

shoot a beam at the door across from it. Shattering the hand that's in it.

Go through that door. You'll be outside now. Run across the bridge. The

camera will zoom out, and out. Stand on the multi-colored portal and

examine the sign. It'll give you a clue about how to complete the trial.

Start heading back across the bridge.

When you get to the middle, a beam of light will shoot down from somewhere,

causing the bridge to crumble into pieces. When you get to play again, head

down the underwater passage. You lose health every second that you're down

here, so you must do it fast. Stand on the portal at the end of the tunnel.

A bunch of skulls will appear around you. With the shotgun, blast each of

them, a few well-placed shots will take them out. You also have the choice to

use your sword. When they're all dead, enter the portal. You'll appear back

on the broken bridge. Go through the doors. Run up the path and grab the

Pride of Lion. This, will trigger a cut scene, afterwards, it's off to face

your first boss battle.

It's a giant scorpion. Begin by just running around. Memorize his attacks,

and when he's going to fire them. If a burst of laser energy forms in his

mouth, hide behind a tree, because a beam of energy will come out. Other

times, columns of fire will shoot up from the ground at Dante. And sometimes,

he will swipe at you with his claws and his tail. I find, that the easiest

way to kill him is to go into Devil Trigger mode and go crazy with your

Alastor. After that, just jump up and use your sword to thrust it down into

him and through his armor. Remember though, the sword must hit his head or

the area around his head or it won't penetrate his armor. When he's dead, run

around and pick up the green and red orbs. Go back through the now opened

gray door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 4:

      ~ Black Night ~

Objective: Display one's strength to the Lion and open the Path. Collect

               the melancholy soul

You start back in front of the judge's picture, the one you stuck the staff

into, well, go back down the hallway. When you get near the door on the left,

the scorpion will come running down the hall! Quickly, go through the door.

Walk behind the fountain to see the force field. Go near it. It will say you

need to show it a sign. Then an option appears to show it the Pride of Lion.

Do that, and the force field will disappear. Examine the Lion statue. it

says you have to give it a magical blow or something. Slash at it 3 times

with your sword, or once if you're Devil Dante. An evil spirit will creep

out of the statue and turn into a Saber toothed Tiger or something. It's

sort of difficult to kill. Use your guns. Fire at it from a distance, which

is harder than it sounds because the thing jumps all around the place.

Sometimes, it turns into a spear and lunges at you, other times it turns into

a gas and crawls along the floor. Sometimes, it turns into a giant set of

teeth. Just keep shooting at it until it's dead. When that happens, a door

above the lion statue will open. Run up the broken set of stairs. When you

get to the top, jump to the platform with the door. Go through. Kill the two

enemies and go up the stairs. When you reach a door, kill the two enemies and

go through. There are a lot of hints in here. To your left, beside the

mirror, is a statue. Examine it to find out there is a slot to put something.

I guess that means you have to find something. Exit the room and climb up the

stairs to the very top. Read the scroll. It sys the soul is at the very

highest point.

Well, you're at the very highest point, but you can't see a thing! Jump over

the balcony. You should land at the very bottom, in a small pool of water.

Right in front of you is a weird looking circle thing on the wall. Slash at

it. The lights around it will begin to fill up. Keep doing this until a red

portal appears in the middle of the room. A pillar will carry you to the very

top of the tower. In front of you is a sword. Jump across the gap and pick it

up. You can't use it though. Now, jump to the side, over the balcony. Run

down the stairs until you reach the double doors. Go inside and turn left.

Examine the statue again. When it asks you, say Yes to insert the sword. It

will trigger a cut scene. The Black Night will come out of the mirror and

exit through the door. Follow him. Outside, jump over the balcony into a

courtyard. The Night is standing on the top of the building.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 5

~ Guiding of the Soul ~

Objective: Go to the destination before the power of the Melancholy Soul

               fades away.

This is one of the easier missions in the game. You'll start off, still in

the courtyard from your last boss battle. Another phantom tiger thing come

south of the door above you. Fight it. It's just like the last one you fought,

so you should be able to kill it without too much trouble. When it's dead,

go back up to where you fought the Dark Knight the third time, on top of the

building. Drop down the little crack here to find the door leading back to

the bedroom. Go through it. Now, exit through the door on the other side.

There's a couple of enemies, but don't worry about them just yet. Drop down

the hole in the center of the room. Walk over to the door beside the stairs

and place the Melancholy Soul in it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 6

~ Evil of the Waterways ~

Objective: Defeat the evil guardian and acquire the Guiding Light.

Now, head north. Keep going to the end of the path to get a blue orb

fragment. Now, head back the other way. Around the corner is a door, go

inside of it. You're in a room with lots of sewer pipes. At the far end,

there is a glowing light in one of the pipes. Press X to get the Rusty Key!

But, this also triggers a lot of bugs to come crawling out of the sewers.

These are some of the easiest enemies you're going to face though. One hit

from the shotgun will kill them, or one hit from trusty ole Alastor. When

they're all dead, the shadow guarding the door will disappear. Exit through

that door. Across from you is a tunnel.

If you go through, you'll find some red orbs and a red orb fountain. When

you come out, continue to the end of the path, killing all and any bugs that

get in your way. Open the door at the end using the Rusty Key. Once on the

other end, run through the path. If you take the side tunnel, you'll get a

couple of green orbs. Keep going along the central path. At the end, there

are some barrier pieces on the ground. Walk in the middle of them to engage

in a semi-boss fight. He isn't hard, but takes a long time to kill. The

easiest thing to do is to jump kick off the walls and slash with your sword.

When he's dead, the force filed will disappear. Go around the corner to find

a shrine. Pick up the "Guiding Light" from it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 7

~ Holding the Key of Ardor ~

Objective: Return to the bedroom before the Guiding Light absorbs all of

               your vitality.

Now, head back the way you came. When you turn the corner, the giant

scorpion (Phantom) will come out of nowhere. Jump to avoid his blasts and

keep running forward. You'll run into a few green orbs if you need them.

When you get to the door at the end, go through. Now, head down the tunnel.

Kill the two Grim reaper type people to open the door. Go through the door.

Now, out here are a bunch of bugs. You might want to kill them in order to

get a green orb. Anyways, hit the shield thing to the side to activate the

portal in the middle.

Step on it to make it turn into an elevator and take you to the top, jump to

the side. Now, head down the stairs, until you reach the first door. Go into

it. Well, this is the bedroom. Walk over to the indent of a sun on the wall.

Put the guiding soul into it to open a door, go through the door. Yay. Now,

you have somewhat of a break. The mission is over, but the next one doesn't

begin yet. Jump over the gap in the bridge and go through the door to start

the next mission.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 8

~ The Legendary Knight Returns ~

Objective: Activate the mechanism and escape from the rooftop

Now, head forward and you will find a place to purchase red orb moves. When

you're done, wall jump up onto the upper ledge. There are 10 red orbs here.

Collect them and go through the door. Head forward and jump over the little

wall. You'll land in a courtyard now. Head towards the open gate, only it

won't stay opened. The Phantom (Giant Scorpion) comes back! I find that he's

easier now, though. Just keep using Devil Trigger Mode on him and go crazy

with your sword. When he's dead, a small cut scene will begin, it's cool, so

watch it. When you get control of Dante again, head through the now open

gate. Go forward and pick up the trident.

Now, drop into the hole. Hit the circular object with your sword. This will

lower the drawbridge. Head around the turning thing to find a corpse holding

the grenade launcher! Pick it up and drop down the hatchway. Walk forward

and place the trident into the shrine. It will open up the gate in the room

underneath you. To reach that room, go through the wooden door. Now, run down

the flight of spiral stairs, go through the wooden door on the left, at the

bottom of the stairs. Run through the gate before it closes, and head out of

the big opening.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 9

      ~  New Strength ~

Objective: Use the new strength to open the door

When you start, run across the drawbridge. When you get to the other side,

it will raise up. Hmmm. Anyways, continue the way you were going. In the

corner of this area, there's a place to purchase redder orb moves. In the

middle of the area is a tombstone of sorts. Go behind it and press X to get

a Devil thingy-majigger. Now, continue on down the spiraling flight of

stairs. At the bottom, open the door. You're in a big courtyard. As soon as

you step off the platform you're currently on, three enemies will pop out of

the ground. Take them out and follow the glowing blue lights on the ground

towards a big door. Go through it.

Now, head to the left and wall jump to get up the wall. Run up the stairs

and turn right. Follow the path around to find an item. Now, head back. Go

behind the stairs. There's a crest in the middle. Slash at it until all the

lights are lit up. This will make all of the platforms in the middle of the

area forms stepping-stones up to the top of the area. Head down the path in

the center. Jump to the first stone. From here, wait until the camera angle

adjusts before jumping again.

When you get to the top, jump to the shrine in the center. Examine it to

find Ifrite. Ifrite is a pair of fiery gauntlets. Cool. Now, jump down from

the shrine. A bunch of enemies will attack you. You can use this chance to

experiment with Ifrite. When they're dead, exit through the big door you

came in through. A cut scene will begin, when it's over, you'll be in a boss

battle. It's a giant griffon. He's pretty hard. Start by getting used to his

attacks. Some times he'll drop pixy dust that will hurt you. Others, he

will fire a beam of red energy at you.

Use the grenade launcher to kill him. Just keep avoiding his attacks and

fire grenades at his head. When he'd dead, the lights on the ground will

lead you over to a door. On each side of it, there is a torch, but only one

of them is lit. Punch the unlit one using Ifrite. The door will open, go

through. Now, you're in a forest. Tons of enemies will start pouring out.

Kill them and go through the door they open. In here, kill all the enemies

again and exit through the red orb door. You'll have to pay 200 orbs to get

through though.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 10

      ~ Canyon of Mist ~

Objective: Come out of the labyrinth alcove

This level is fairly easy. Go to the left and start killing the puppets. When

you get a chance, read the stone tablet in the middle of the fork in the

road. It will give you a riddle about guiding lights and stuff. I never

understood it, but I DO know what to do. When all of the enemies are dead, a

little ball of light will come out of nowhere and go up the right path.

Follow it up and enter the next area. Now, once again, kill the enemies,

only now, they're a little tougher.

Afterwards, follow the light to the next area. Now, the enemies are really

strong, but still not very hard to kill. When they're dead, run up the final

path of the labyrinth! Thought you had the level beat? Not yet. There stands

a couple of spiders in front of you, the number of them depending on the

difficulty you're playing on. Afterwards, the giant metal gate will open,

revealing a door. That's the door to end the mission, but first, head into

the grass on the left to find a holy water. Now, exit through the big door

and onto the next mission.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 11

      ~ Fate ~

Objective: Offer the Chalice and open the path

Now, as soon as you start, you'll be facing a death scythe. He's not that

hard. Just wall jump a lot and slash down at it. After a while, he'll throw

away his scythe and die. Yay. Now, jump down the well in the center of the

room. You're in an underground area. A dino thing comes running at you. Kill

him, but make sure you don't jump back up the well. Now, head down the tunnel

to find a shop. To the right of it is a crack in the wall. Slash at it a few

times to bust it open. There are two more dino things here. Kill them both

to receive a blue orb fragment. Now, jump up through the crack into the next

area. Here, run forward and pick up the sign of chastity off the shrine. Now,

back track to the room where you fought the death scythe.

Head over to the big door. Jump up to the higher level one. Go through. Now,

don't jump across the area, jump to the side. You'll fall down to an alter

of sorts. Run up to the glowing thing and place the sign of chastity into it.

You will receive the chalice. The only problem now, is that you have to

fight a boss. Nelo Angleo. He isn't hard. Whenever you can, make sure to go

into Devil Trigger Mode. When he's dead, the door above you will open up, so

wall jump to get back to the second floor. Jump across the blocks to reach

another shrine. Place the chalice on it. This will open a door below you.

Hop down and go through it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 12

      ~ Ghost Ship ~

Objective: Go to the deck and head to the Captain's Cabin

As soon as you come out of the door, there is a shop on the left of Dante. I

highly suggest picking up at least one holy water. When you're done, continue

down the path. At the bottom of the flight of stairs, you'll encounter a few

puppets. Take them out, and go forward into the cavern. In the middle of the

cavern is a large ship. Go forward and hop into the pit of water. It will

switch over to first person view mode. Move forward, you can collect the red

orbs if you want. Go through the crack in the side of the boat. In the next

room, avoid the blade and head to the surface. Dante will automatically jump

out. Run up the stairs.

You can fight the three blades here if you want, and I do suggest that you

fight them for the orbs, because you'll need them later. Now, head over to

the shiny item on the ground. Pick it up. It's a needle gun! It's the only

gun that can be used underwater. Head up the left set of stairs There's

another set of stairs back here, head up them and open the door. You'll be

on the main deck of the ship now. You can climb up to the crow’s nest of

several poles in order to get red orbs. You don't need to do that however.

Head up to the second floor of the deck. There is a door covered by two blue

swords. Examine them. It will tell you that you must protect the ship if you

want to enter or something.

Then, a sin scissors comes out. It's a semi hard boss to beat. Go into Devil

Trigger mode and go crazy on him. I suggest using Ifrit because it seems to

kill it faster. Afterwards, try to go through the blue sword doors again.

The blades will rise up. Then, a cut scene appears, when it's over, you'll

be fighting the Griffon. He will throw a red bird at you. Kill the red bird

with the handguns and then use the holy water you picked up earlier. This

will take half to three quarters of his health away. Now, I find the best

thing to do, is to get to the top of a crows nest. Stand there and fire

Downward with your handguns. When he's dead, the blue sword door will open

again. Head on through it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 13

      ~ Abyss ~

Objective: Find an exit and escape from the ship

Now, to Dante’s left is a shop. Go there if you want. Then, wander around

the cabin until you see a shiny item. Pick it up, it's the Staff of Hermes!

Now, the ship begins to sink. You'll be completely submerged underneath

water. Swim through the little black square of darkness near the floor. Now,

you'll be in a large underwater part of the ship. Kill the two blades in

front of you via the needle gun. Now, go through the doorway with the blue

lights around it. There are more blades in this next room, so take care of

them. Now, head towards the crack in the sidewall. This completes the

mission, but the next doesn't start just yet. To start it, you must get out

of the water. Run down the corridor and up the stairs. Go through the door

at the top.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 14

~ Deep Darkness and Towering Mountains ~

Objective: Go to the surface and head for the coliseum

Head south down the stone corridor. Turn left. Keep following the path until

you find a skeleton against the wall. Examine it to find a shield. The arm

also acts as a lever, so pull it. This opens the iron gate you passed by,

with an elevator inside. It also activated a booby trap. the floor starts to

move against you, and spikes start popping out. If you have air raid, use it

and just fly over top of the spikes to get to the door. If you don't, then

you have to jump over the spikes, which is really hard. Either way you do it,

go into the elevator and let it carry you back to the surface.

At the surface, head south. Jump down the cliff to meet up with a bunch of

blades as well as a larger type of blade. Keep killing them. You must have at

least 200 red orbs right now. Head though the mine on the side of the level

to find a red orb door. Use the 200 red orbs on it and pass through. Now,

you're in a courtyard. Kill all the enemies in this room. You can wall jump

up on the single ledge to get a devil star. Hop down and run up the stairs.

Pay 100 red orbs to open the door at the top. Through here, collect the red

orbs and go through the door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 15

      ~ Wheel of Destiny ~

Objective: Use the shield and a pair of lances to conquer the Coliseum

You're back in the area where you first fought the Griffon. Go forward.

There are a bunch of blades. Kill them. Now, beside the door with the

torches are another door. Go through it. Find the door with the red shield on

the front. Open the door using the emblem shield and go through. Now, don't

go down the stairs, but go past the stairs. Kill the puppet and grab the

item, the Luminite. Now, head down the stairs. Kill the puppets and break

open the crack in the wall. Run inside and bust everything open to receive

a couple of orbs.

Now, back track and exit this area. Go forward and follow the path around a

curve. You'll see a big door now. Run past it and open up the door with the

blue shield on the front. Go down the stairs. Kill the puppets. Now, break

open the cracked wall. Run in and destroy everything. You'll end up with a

holy water and a blue orb fragment. Go back out and through the big blue

doors. Now, head forward. You'll have t go north now. Wait until the set of

blades in front of you disappears inside the wall and run past them.

Continue this until you get to the end.

Hop down onto the platform. Air Raid over to the shrine to pick up a pair of

lances. Now, back track to the beginning of the tunnel and go up the ramp

and through the door. Head back to the big doors that are between the blue

and red shield doors. Put the lances in it to open it up. Now, once inside,

head down to the big blue glowing circle in the middle to trigger a cut scene.

When it's over, you'll be fighting the Griffon again. Pull out your grenade

launcher and go crazy on him. He HAS learned some new moves though. Now, he

will shoot light beams that go all over the place, making it much harder to

dodge them all.

When he flies into the air, he will stay there for a long time. Avoid the red

beams he drops down to the earth and keeps shooting him with the grenade

launcher. When he gets down to half health, his wing will be torn off,

making him tumble to the ground. He's even easier now. Mostly, he'll only

run at you. Go crazy on him in devil Trigger Mode. A cut scene will appear.

When it's over, jump on top of the raised column in the middle of the area.

It's an elevator that takes you down to the basement. Go forward to get the

Wheel of Destiny.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 16

      ~ Nightmare of Darkness ~

Objective: Unravel the mystery of the Staff of Hermes

Now, turn away from the shrine and go back. There is a whole blue orb beside

the elevator. Grab it and ride the elevator up. Jump down and exit through

the doors of the coliseum. Follow the path of blue lights over to a door. Go

through the door and up the spiraling flight of stairs. At the top, head

forward, past all the stones until you reach the drawbridge. Place the wheel

of destiny into the slot in the ground to lower the bridge. Cross it. When

you get to the door on the other side, go through.

From here, go through the door directly in front of you. You're back in the

room that you started the first mission in. Run around to the back of the

stairs to find a blue orb. Now, jump up to find a crest. Smack it with your

sword a few times. This will trigger a cut scene. Afterwards, jump up to

avoid the laser blast of the enemy. Run over to him, pop into Devil Trigger

Mode and go crazy. Killing him will release the curse on the green door. Go

through it.

Now, depending on the difficulty, there might or might not be another laser

guy in the airplane room. Either way, go through the door on the left. Now,

you're back in a familiar hallway. Run down it, killing the puppets as you

go. When you reach the end, go to the right and through the doors that once

lead to the pride of lion. The room is dark and there's a big puddle of

water on the ground. Smack one of the four crests in the room until it lights

the room up, now, goes examine the puddle. It'll trigger a boss battle! He's

basically a blob.

Smack him a few times, and an orb should appear on his body, attack that for

a while, continue this process until the lights go off, he'll then turn back

into a moving puddle. If you walk on him when he's like this, you'll get

sucked down to hell. Kill the skulls here. Then, your old pal, Phantom will

emerge. He's not hard, kill him and enter the portal to be transported back

to the boss battle. Doing this will do some damage to the Nightmare. Now, go

smack a crest to turn the lights back on. Kill him. Collect the red orbs he

leaves and go out the doors at the far end, the ones leading outside.

Now, go forward. Jump across the stones to get to the other side. If you fall

down, don't worry. Kill the skulls, enter the portal, and you'll end up on

the side of the bridge that you want to be on. Go behind the pride of the

lion tablet to find a sign with two snakes on it. Examine it and show the

Staff of Hermes to it. This will make two pictures appear. Jump through the

one on the left.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 17

      ~ Parted Memento ~

Objective: Slash away at the dragon and enter the court with the

               Quicksilver

Now, head forward and run up the stairs. Now, there's now pile of rubble

blocking the pathway, so continue up to the top of the tower. Another

picture will appear, so jump through it. Now, fight the frosts that are

flapping around the room, when they're dead, go through the door in front of

you. In this hallway, go straight, ignore the fork in the road. If you choose,

you can fight the puppets scattered about. When you reach a door, go through.

Now, go forward until you reach a little circle. There's a hand crank on one

side of it and a stone tablet on the other.

Stand on the circle and look forward. There's a large dragonhead up ahead.

Wait until he fires a blast of fire at you, then hit it back at him with your

Alastor. Depending on the difficulty, the amount of hits you need to make

varies. Now, go over to the hand crank and press X. Rotate the left analog

stick in a clockwise direction. This will move the mirror that has appeared.

Position it so that it's lined up with the mirror overhead. It'll start a

chain reaction and uncover an item in the balcony ahead. Now, wall jump on

the right side of the hallway to reach the ledge above.

Follow it around the corner. Jump to the only platform that you can. From

here, jump to the blue block. It disappears, so do it quickly, while you can

still see it. Even when it's invisible, you can still stand on it. Follow

all the blocks until you reach the balcony where the item was. Jump to it

and take the item. It's Quicksilver! Jump down and run back down the hall.

Exit this room. Now, back track down the hall until you reach the fork in the

road. Go down it. Place the Quicksilver in the door and go through. In this

room, go forward a little to trigger a cut scene.

Now, it's another Boss battle. Nelo Angleo again. You should know the

easiest ways to beat him by now, so I won't go through that. He has one new

move, he summons a bunch of razor sharp knives and throws them at you. Avoid

them by jumping around. He's also a lot faster than he was in earlier

battles. Afterwards, another cut scene will begin, a somewhat surprising cut

scene...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 18

      ~ Spirit Stone Elixir ~

Objective: Throw the Philosopher's Egg into the fire and transform it

               into the Spirit Stone.

Now, after the opening cut scene, you'll have a new sword, the Sparda! Walk

onto the black portal that appears. It will take you back to the tower, where

another picture will open up. Hop into it. It's an underwater stage. Swim

along, following the trail of red orbs, until you reach the doorway, when

you go through, you'll be in a room with 4 sin scissors. Kill all of them

with the needle gun to open a door. Go through the door. Go forward and

smack the crest a few times to flood the room, swim up until you reach the

stairs, make sure you're on top of the stairs before the water disappears.

Run up the stairs, jumping over the gaps. At the top, you'll find the

Philosophers egg. Take it, and head back down the stairs, at the bottom, go

through the door. You're in the room where you used the pride of lion oh so

long ago. Now, hop down from the rubble that used to be a staircase and

examine the blue fire. Place the egg inside of it. Now, a boss battle will

begin. It's a Nightmare again. Smack the crest on the wall to turn the lights

on, then run over and start hitting the orb that appears. After a short

battle, the Nightmare will be finished, and the egg will be ready. Walk over

and pick it up. It has transformed into the Elixir! A black portal appears

in the middle of the room before the mission ends.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 19

~ Enter the Corrupted World ~

Objective: Open the gate to the Underworld

Now, enter the black portal that appeared in the previous mission. You're

back in the tower. Follow the staircase down to the bottom. Step on the

black portal to go back to the real world. Hop into the other painting.

You're in the bedroom. Start by picking up the blue orb fragment. Now, jump

to the top of the bed to get an untouchable. Now, head over to the mirror

and examine it. The elixir reacts with it. Press X to go through it. Now, in

this dimension, everything is sort of blurry, and the red orbs have no

effect. What you do is go to the left and out the balcony doors. Jump over

the balcony and pick up the Philosophers stone from the center.

This will trigger a cut scene, after which, you'll be fighting a couple of

really big monsters. They're pretty tough, so take your time with them.

Afterwards, you get tons of red orbs. Now, Hop up to the pathway and run

around it. You should now how to get back to the balcony. When you do, go

through the door. Head over to the mirror and back to the semi-real world.

Step into the black portal. Now, jump across the stones and back to the

cathedral. The power of the elixir is now reacting with the puddle on the

floor. Walk over to it and press X. You will be submerged. Walk over and

look at the little multicolored orb in the ground. This opens the portal to

the underworld. Hop in it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 20

      ~ Showdown with Nightmare ~

Objective: Head to the place of sacrifice

Now, when you start, wall jump up into the passage. Go along past the

thumping things in the side until you reach a red thing. It's like skin or

something. Rip through it with a sword and enter. You have to fight two of

those big things from the mirrored dimension. They're pretty tough. When

they're done, go to the shop and get what you want. Next, rip through the

next skin thing. A cut scene will start. When it's over, you'll be in a

circle of blue flames and fighting a Nightmare.

Smack the red crest to light the place up, after that, you should know what

to do. When he gets to about half-life, Trish steps in and hurts you. Then,

you're left to fight the nightmare again. When it's in the red, the orb on

it's back will break in two. If you attack it, it'll shoot a beam of light

at you. Just stay at a safe distance and use your grenade launcher. When

it's dead, a cut scene will take over.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 21

      ~ Living Cave ~

Objective: Pulsate the heart and open the last gate

Go through the door in front of you. You're in a big chamber with a huge

heart in the middle. Its veins are connected to a door that you need to

open to continue. Jump along the poles to the right. At the end, break open

the crystal. This will open a door in the chamber you just left. So track

back through the door. Jump up on the platform and slice open the skin and

walk through. Now, run forward. The hallway will begin moving around like

crazy. You'll come to a fork in the road, take the left path. Snakes will

come out of the wall and attack you, quickly draining your health.

Simply fire a couple handgun shots at them or use your sword. When you get

past two sets of these snakes, you'll come face to face with a large nobody.

Kill it and continue down the passage. You'll encounter two more nobodies.

Kill them to open the paths beyond them. At the last one, rip open the skin

door and go through. Kill the two ice things before they split into 4 ice

things! After that, jump across the rocks in the lava. Hit the crest on the

other side. This will raise a pillar of rock. Jump to it and another pillar

will raise. Jump to that, then to the next platform. There is a red orb

fountain here. Get the orbs.

Now, hit the next crest. Hop on the rising pillar. Now, you can't reach the

next pillar just yet, so jump to the platform. Jump from one to the next

until you can reach the next pillar. Jump to the ledge and rip open the skin

door. Go through. Walk forward and jump over the gap. Hit the crest. This

will make the heart begin to beat faster, making the door open. Go through

it. You're in a big cathedral. Run forward to confront Mundus. A cut scene

triggers, one with a sad ending.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 22

      ~ Legendary Battle ~

    Objective: Defeat Mundus

Now, you'll be flying through space. You can move in all directions to avoid

incoming objects. using X or square will fire beams of blue energy at him.

Just keep flying and shooting until he stops. Now, put on your Devil Trigger

and he will knock you down to earth. He gets easier now, believe it or not,

at least as long as you've bought Meteor level 1 or 2 from a shop for the

Ifrit. If you do, then hop onto one of the floating rocks, get really close

to him and start using it. If you don't have that move, then try running

around, avoiding incoming boulders and shooting grenades at him. When he's

dead, the mission's complete.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mission 23

      ~ Mother's Guide ~

Objective: Escape Mallet Island before it collapses

Now, you must backtrack a lot. Start by going back to the heart chamber.

From here, just keep going backwards. When you reach the area where you

killed Nightmare, you must kill the two nobody's in order to open the door

ahead. Run through it. In the next area, head for the colored light and ride

it up to the halfway point between earth and the underworld. Ride the big

elevator back to the surface. Now, run out of the cathedral. Run all the way

down the hall and through the doors to the first mission.

A cut scene will take over for a few moments. When it's over, you'll be in

the sewers, trapped! Mundus seems to have survived after all. Just run under

him and start going crazy. he can't hit you from here, and you have

unlimited Devil Trigger. When he's down to his last sliver of life, Trish

will come out! She gives you her powers. Pull out your handguns, go into

Devil Trigger Mode and fire one shot to finish Mundus off.

Now, a cut scene takes over. When it's done, you'll be piloting a plane

through a cavern. Watch out for the spike things because the plane moves

really fast. If you have a lot of health, you don't really have to worry

about anything. When you're at the end, you'll see light shining into the

cavern.

*Congratulations on beating Devil May Cry*

Secret  Missions

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n 1

      ~ Critical Hit ~

Location: Right after you beat Phantom in Mission 3, go back outside,

drop down into the water where you fought the skull things

This mission is pretty hard. You need to beat a Sin Scissors with only one

attack. Well, technically two. Anyways, run down the tunnel and step on the

circle thing in the middle. This triggers the battle. Wait until it floats

down right beside you. Jump up and slash down at its mask. Then, fire a

shotgun blast directly in it's face. If done properly, it will die and a

blue orb will appear. It's a hard mission, so don't get discouraged too

easily.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  2

      ~ Baby Phantom ~

Location: After you've beaten Phantom for the first time in Mission 3,

exit the door to go to Mission 4. Re-enter the cathedral

This mission is easy. You must kill 100 baby phantoms in 30 seconds. Simply

use your handguns and go crazy on the floor. Another way is to just use a

holy water.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  3

      ~ Baby Phantom II ~

Location: After you have done Baby Phantom 1, head back out of the

cathedral. Start running down the hallway, when Phantom starts

chasing you, keep running down the hall. Go through the door at

the very back to get into this secret mission.

This mission is a little harder than the last. You aren't allowed to use any

weapons or holy water. It's a small area, so just trample them all. It might

take a few tries because the camera gets a little weird.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  4

      ~ The Three Beasts ~

Location: After you  show the Pride of Lion to the gate keeper and

fight the shadow (Or death scythe on easy auto) exit the room.

Go down the hall a little to find the door leading back to the

room with an airplane. Go to the back corner and light up the

crest to take you down to the basement.

This mission can be easy, or hard, depending on how good you are with

shadows. You have to fight three at once. If you use a holy water, all of

their cores will be exposed. That's one strategy for killing them. The other,

is to run around, jumping and firing the shotgun. As soon as you see an

exposed core, attack it. You'll get a blue orb for beating it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  5

      ~ One Eyed Evil ~

Location: After beating Mission 6 and going onto 7, go back to the room

where you got the rusty key. Outside the room however, you'll

have to take out all the bugs and break the curse on the door

              before hand.

Now, the idea is to make one of the giant spiders kill the other. That means

you can't kill them yourself. The easiest way to do this is to jump around

in between them. Then, when they try to attack you, move out of the way and

hopefully, they'll attack each other. Your health keeps going down, so try

not to get hit, and make it quick.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  6

      ~ Wandering Ghosts ~

Location: In mission 11, head back to where you fought the Cyclops in

              mission 10. It's a secret mission!

This is fairly easy. The objective is to reach the blue orb high in the air

by jumping off enemies. The easiest way to do this is so run forward jump up

and kick off the first ghost. You should reach the orb, if you don't then

keep trying.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  7

      ~ Water Cell ~

Location: After you finish mission 13, you'll be in a small time period

to run around before the next mission starts. Head back into

the ship and swim back to the captain's cabin. Examine the

skeleton corpse to trigger a secret mission

This is a hard and easy battle. If you are good at using the underwater

controls, this mission should be really easy. If you're like me, and have

trouble using these controls, this can be quite difficult. Basically, you

must defeat all the underwater blades using the needle gun. They will

surround you, so try to stay to the outside of the arena. Also, don't stay

in one place and shoot, shoot a little and move to another location.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  8

~ Treasure of the Reaper ~

Location: Now, head back to the room in Mission 14 where the spikes rose

out of the floor. To the right of the elevator is a picture of

a skull. Examine it to start a secret mission.

This mission is HARD. Three Shadows will come out of the skull picture so

dodge the first one immediately after starting. When you try to go after one,

the other will usually shoot spikes up at you. It's really difficult. Try

using the Nightmare Beat if you can. If you don't have it, then use the

trusty old shotgun. When an orb is exposed, go into Devil Trigger and

Stinger that orb till it turns red.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  9

      ~ Shadow of Darkness ~

Location: After you beat the First Nightmare in Mission 17, head back

out of the cathedral. Head down to the end of the hall and go

through the door. It will go to the secret mission sub screen.

Now, you're in the airplane room to begin with. The objective is to hunt and

defeat all the Shadows. Well, you don't see any in here, or do you. Jump on

top of the airplane to find two sets of red glowing eyes. Jump down and they

will come after you. Kill them both, you should know how to kill a shadow by

now. After they are both dead, try to exit the room, you'll be transported

into the main foyer. Kill the single Shadow in here, it's in the corner

where a blue orb once lay. When it's dead, go out of the gray doors. It'll

take you to the bridge area. Kill the shadow in here to complete the mission.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  10

      ~ Stairway of Tranquility ~

Location: After Secret Mission 9, you'll be left standing in front of

the bridge. Head out of the doors and back to the coliseum. Go

              through the lance doors.

This mission is just plain annoying. The objective is to reach the blue orb

in the sky by climbing the stairway of death. Well, the "stairway" of death

is a lot of skulls. The skulls will make a weird noise that's sure to get on

your nerves in a very short time period. You have to jump from skull to

skull in order to reach the blue orb. You can't land on top of them though,

because you have to kick jump. The camera angles don't help either. Just try

to keep a steady hand, and eventually, you should be able to get it. Air

hike also helps.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  11

~ Blue Gem in the Sky ~

Location: At the beginning of mission 17, turn around and go back on the

portal. Now, the idea is to jump across the stone blocks of

the bridge to get to the other side. The easy way is to step

on the first block, go into Devil Trigger Mode, and then use

Air Raid to fly across the stones. Either way, when you get to

the other side, the mission will begin

Now, a death scythe will come out of the bridge. The idea off this mission

is to use the tornado things it makes to launch yourself into the air, and

to the blue orb. When you get really high, it's best to go into DT mode and

float over to the orb using air raid

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    S e c r e t  M i s s i o n  12

      ~ Holy Bangle ~

Location: At the beginning of Mission 21, you'll be in a room with a

statue of time. Right across from it is a wall, examine it to

              trigger the mission.

This secret mission is longer than some missions! Start by running through

the halls. You'll get a blue orb as you go. You'll also have to fight a

couple of nobodies. When you reach a big room, jump up on the fungus type

things to get to a rock level with a dinosaur head. You can't shoot his fire

balls back like before, so start attacking him. Try using meteor a couple of

times, if you don't have it, then jump across the chasm to the head and hit

it with your sword. You'll have to climb back up after each hit though. When

it's dead, hop down. You'll now have to fight a shadow. When it's killed, an

elevator will appear above you. Climb up to the top of the area and jump to

it. Let it carry you to a platform. From there, jump to another elevator.

Jump to the rock it carries you to. Run forward to get the Time Bangle, and

finish the mission.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Red Orbs

--------

Sometimes, when you defeat enemies, red orbs will pop out of their corpses.

Get them. They are important. They allow you to buy new weapons/moves at the

start of each new mission. You also need them to open doors.

Green Orbs

----------

From a select few enemies, a green orb will pop out of their corpse. These

orbs will refill your entire health bar. There aren't that many of them in

the demo, I think there are 3. So be careful and try not to take too much

damage from enemies.

Yellow Orbs

-----------

These are perhaps the most important orbs.

Purple Orbs

-----------

These orbs can raise the amount of devil trigger gauges you have. The more

you have the longer devil trigger mode will last. To get them, simply buy

them from the shop thing before a mission starts.

                ------------------+---------+------+-------

               | Philosophers Stone| 19      |  No  |  N/A  |

                -------------------------------------------

Vital Star

----------

You start with one. Shops sell some. This item is great. Whenever you're

vitality is a little on the low side, use one of these to replenish your

health back up to full.

Amulet

------

This was a memento from Dante's mother. With the help of an amulet that

Sarda holds, it can be transformed into the perfect amulet. Nobody knows the

true meaning to the amulet, but it sure means something to Dante. Maybe

we'll find out in the sequel

Rusty Key

---------

Many places throughout game. This key can be used to open a few doors

throughout the game. It's mandatory that you find them. I'm guessing they

get their name because the old castle hasn't been used in years, so

everything is beginning to rust. Just a hunch...

Pride of Lion

-------------

The pride of lion is a small sign with a picture of a lion head on it. It

has the power to call forth the gatekeeper. It's found in Mission 3. First

you have to complete the Trials though.

Death Sentence

--------------

This sword cannot be used as a weapon. Too bad, because it looks kind of

cool. You use it to receive the melancholy soul. The location of it is to

ride the elevator from mission 3 up to the top of the tower. Jump over the

gap and pick up the sword

Melancholy Soul

---------------

After you put the death sentence into a statue of a woman, the melancholy

soul will pop out. It has mystical powers, but those powers will run out

after a while of being activated.

Guiding Light

-------------

This is a strange sign. Who ever pick it up must place it in its place of

destination. The sign will slowly devour the users vitality. If you take too

long delivering it, then you will surely die.

Trident

-------

This is a three-pronged stick that is used to raise the drawbridge in

Mission 8. It is found right after defeating Phantom. There's not much more

I can say about it. You stick it into a  hole and it raises a drawbridge in

the room below.

Sign of Chastity

----------------

It looks like a giant brain. It is used as a sacrifice. It's found in

Mission 10. Once again, there's not much to say about it other than it's a

big brain.

Chalice

-------

The chalice is used to open a door. It's found after you put the sign of

chastity into a shrine in Mission 10. It is gold rimmed. My guess is that

somebody important used to drink out of it otherwise it wouldn't play such a

big part.

Devil Star

----------

When your Devil Trigger gauge reaches zero, you can use a devil star to fill

up 5 gauges. You can find these throughout most of the missions, but you can

also buy them in shops. Very useful when going into boss battles.

Untouchable

-----------

This is the third star in the game. When used, it will make you invincible

and put you in Devil Trigger Mode for a short period of time. Another great

item for bosses because, as I said, nothing can be done to you, and you have

the advantage of being more powerful via Devil Trigger.

Staff of Hermes

---------------

Found in Mission 13, Abyss, this item is a long pole with sculpted snakes

going up the side of it. It has a strange power that you will have to unlock

further into the game, more precisely, Mission 17.

Wheel of Destiny

----------------

Found after the second fight with Griffon, this wheel is used to raise the

giant drawbridge that raised after you left the castle.

Elixir

------

This is a weird blue colored stone that is found when you mix the

Philosopher’s egg with some strange looking blue fire. It will allow you to

reach an evil part of the castle where I guarantee you don't exactly want to

be

Philosophers Stone

------------------

This is a strange stone that is the key to entering the underworld. It is

found in the courtyard of the mirrored dimension in Mission 19. Good luck

fighting the enemies that appear afterwards...mwahahah

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

 E n e m i e s / B o s s e s

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

E n e m i e s

-------------

Marionette

----------

As the name suggests, these enemies are controlled by the power of the

devil's impure strings. At a glance, they seem slow, weak and easy to fight.

However, beware the evil trap. Once Marionettes see their prey, they attack

with their sword and scimitar nimbly and accurately. They sometimes throw

their weapons at distant enemies. Some may already be armed with projectiles

when you meet them.

Sin Scissor

-----------

Their appearance- floating in midair in long black cloaks, wielding huge

scythe and scissors- may remind one of the Grim Reaper. However, the Grim

Reaper harvests only on dead human's souls. These devils decapitate humans

while they're still alive! When confronting them, aim at their masks. It is

useless to attack their bodies, arms or legs.

Shadow

------

Resembling beasts of the cat family, Shadows can move extremely fast and

battle their opponents. However, that is not the only weapon in these

cunning devil's arsenal. They sometimes change their body shape dramatically

to finish off their prey. In fact, they are shapeless evil spirits with no

substance. They enter the human world by wrapping their spirits with black

magic. Sword attacks won't work against them, but projectile attacks will.

Blade

-----

These are like big dinosaurs/humans. They have armor and sharp teeth and

claws. They are pretty tough to kill, but  not nearly impossible. They just

take more hits than the average enemy, but they also give off more red orbs

than the average enemy.

Beezlebub

---------

Why did Capcom even bother to put these things in here. They are pathetic. I

don't know how these things could ever hurt anybody. One hit from

Alastor or any other weapon for that matter will turn these things into a

pile of goo. Sometimes, the bug will come from the sewage, some crawl around

on the walls, then there are the annoying bugs that fly around.

Bloody Mari

-----------

Bloody marries are almost exactly like marionettes. They even hang out with

Marionettes! They will usually resort to throwing knives or using a shotgun.

The easiest way to defeat this thing is to slash away with

Alastor. They don't take very many hits to kill, and if you move constantly

around the battleground, you should never get hit either.

Death Scissor

-------------

These things are HARD. They are like the sin scissors in some ways, but only

much, much stronger. They will attack you with their giant pair of scissors,

as well as making little tornados underneath you to send you up into the

ceiling. These things take a lot of hits with anything to kill them. Try

using Devil Trigger to deal some serious damage.

Fetish

------

These guys are cool. They are also very  hard. They are like a

marionette, but they shoot fire instead of throwing knives or shooting guns.

They will usually start spinning while exerting a stream of fire. If it gets

a hold of you, it can do some damage, so don't let that happen. This enemy

will never make an appearance on Easy Automatic Mode.

Death Scythe

------------

These are like the death scissor. Except for the fact that it now has a

scythe instead of a pair of scissors. Do the math and figure out which can

do more damage. A scythe, or a pair of scissors. The answer is obviously the

scythe. It's still basically the same strategy as the death scissor though,

just jump around a lot and attack it in Devil Trigger Mode. The grenade gun

also does a lot of damage.

Cyclops

-------

Miniature Phantoms. The Phantom is the giant spider/scorpion hybrid boss you

have to fight in case you didn't know. These things act in the same way,

except they don't shoot out lava or fire because they're not fire based

spiders. Just use the same strategy for the Phantom, jump around, slashing

at the head.

Nobody

------

These are giant monsters from the depths of the underworld. They start out

small, and crawling on the floor, when you attack them, they will summon

power and grow in size. They will keep growing until they are at least twice

as big as you. Now, things get interesting. Jump around A LOT. You don't

want these things getting a hold of you because they do a lot of damage. Try

to go into Devil Trigger and attack them. It makes everything a lot easier.

Plasma

------

At first, they'll appear as a blue bat. The bat will attack you by dropping

ice on you. After you hit it a few times, it will come down to the ground and

morph into a human shape. It will still shoot ice at you though. If you

attack it, but don't kill it fast, it will split into three! If you don't

kill those, they split into 3 each! That's why it's important to finish off

these little buggers as soon as possible.

Sargasso

--------

These things are basically giant floating skulls. You'll encounter them in

four parts of the game. In mission 3, when you're getting the pride of the

lion, and every time you fight Nightmare, if you get sucked down to the

underworld, you'll have to fight a squad of them. They will usually come in

groups of about 6. If you get near one, it will become solid and start

attacking you, but the rest of them will stay where you are until you get too

close. There are many ways to kill them. A shotgun shot at close range will

take them out, or you can do a High Time with a slash down.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

B o s s e s

-----------

N e l o  A n g e l o

  Attacks: • multiple sword combos

           • horizontal slash with sword

           • Fire a beam of blue energy

           • transport to appear behind you

           • Throw a series of knives at you

First Fight

-----------

He'll hop down, and you'll be fighting your first boss battle. He's easy. He

will try to do some whacked out moved to you. To avoid it, jump over his head

and slash down with your sword. This is all you really need to do. When your

devil trigger gauge is full use it, run up to Nelo and go crazy with Alastor.

When he reaches two thirds of his life back, he will transport to a higher

area. Jump up to where he is and do the same as before. When he reaches one

third of his life left, he will transport to the highest area. To reach him,

run up the stairs and jump over the gap. Now, wall jump on top of the rubble

to reach him. Do the same as before to finish him off.

Second Fight

------------

He will try to do some whacked out moves to you, even more whacked out than the

last time you met because now he does combos. The basic concept stays the

same though. Jump over his back and slash down. Use the Devil Trigger

whenever possible. If you run low on health, jump over the railing into the

water. There is a green orb here.  to you. To avoid it, jump over his head

and slash down with your sword. This is all you really need to do. When your

devil trigger gauge is full use it, run up to Nelo and go crazy with Alastor.

Third Fight

-----------

He will try to do some whacked out moves to you, even more whacked out than the

last time you met because now he does combos. The basic concept stays the

same though. Jump over his back and slash down. Use the Devil Trigger

whenever possible. If you run low on health, jump over the railing into the

water. There is a green orb here.  to you. To avoid it, jump over his head

and slash down with your sword. This is all you really need to do. When your

devil trigger gauge is full use it, run up to Nelo and go crazy with Alastor.

The only difference you have to make between this fight and the last fight is

to jump around more.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

P h a n t o m

Attacks: • Shoot a beam of red energy

           • Strike with tail

           • Attack with pincers

           • Make columns of lava erupt from floor

           • Jump on you

First Fight

-----------

Go back through the now opened

gray door.

Second Fight

------------

It's a giant scorpion. Begin by just running around. Memorize his attacks,

and when he's going to fire them. If a burst of laser energy forms in his

mouth, hide behind a tree, because a beam of energy will come out. Other

G r i f f o n

Attacks: • drops energy dust on you

         • Shoots a spinning energy ball that burst beams of energy out

         • Fires energy bars at you horizontally

         • While on the ground, he'll charge at you

First Fight

-----------

Start by getting used to his attacks. Some times he'll drop pixy dust that

will hurt you. Others, he will fire a beam of red energy at you. Use the

grenade launcher to kill him. Just keep avoiding his attacks and fire

grenades at his head. When he'd dead, the lights on the ground will lead you

over to a door.

Second Fight

------------

He will throw a red bird at you. Kill the red bird with the handguns and

then use the holy water you picked up earlier. This will take half to three

quarters of his health away. Now, I find the best thing to do, is to get to

the top of a crow’s nest.

Third Fight

-----------

He HAS learned some new moves though. Now, he will shoot light beams that go

all over the place, making it much harder to dodge them all. When he flies

into the air, he will stay there for a long time. Avoid the red beams he

drops down to the earth and keep shooting him with the grenade launcher.

When he gets down to half health, his wing will be torn off, making him

tumble to the ground. He's even easier now. Mostly, he'll only run at you.

Go crazy on him in devil Trigger Mode.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

N i g h t m a r e

Attacks: • Fires pin needles at you

         • Shoots energy beams at you

         • Stepping on him in blob form will send you to the underworld

         • After visiting the underworld, it'll just do a lot of damage

First Fight

-----------

Smack him a few times, and an orb should appear on his body, attack that for

a while, continue this process until the lights go off, he'll then turn back

into a moving puddle. If you walk on him when he's like this, you'll get

sucked down to hell. Kill the skulls here. Then, your old pal, Phantom will

emerge. He's not hard, kill him and enter the portal to be transported back

to the boss battle. Doing this will do some damage to the Nightmare.

Second Fight

------------

In this battle, it's the same strategy as before, only you may have to jump

around a tad more to avoid being hit.

Third Fight

-----------

Smack the red crest to light the place up, after that, you should know what

to do. When he gets to about half-life, Trish steps in and hurts you. Then,

you're left to fight the nightmare again. When it's in the red, the orb on

it's back will break in two. If you attack it, it'll shoot a beam of light

at you. Just stay at a safe distance and use your grenade launcher. When

it's dead, a cut scene will take over.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

M u n d u s

First Fight

-----------

Second Fight

------------

Just run under him and start going crazy. he can't hit you from here, and

you have unlimited Devil Trigger. When he's down to his last sliver of life,

Trish will come out! She gives you her powers. Pull out your handguns, go

into Devil Trigger Mode and fire one shot to finish Mundus off.

N o r m a l  S k i l l s

High-Time

---------

To do this, hold R1, hold back on the analog stick and press the circle

button. It will lunge the sword into the enemy and throw it up. If you hold

the button after that, Dante will jump up after the enemy. Pushing circle

yet a third time will make him come down with a powerful and usually kill

the enemy. While the enemy is in the air, you can also let go of circle and

start pressing your gun button to keep the enemy suspended in air while his

body gets riddled with bullets.

Roll

----

Push left or right and jump. This is a very helpful move when surrounded by

many enemies. Instead of staying in the middle getting beaten up, roll to

the outside and take them on one by one.

Wall Jump

---------

If you press triangle when hitting a wall or enemy, you will be propelled

further into the air. This technique is great to get behind most enemies.

You can even start firing with your guns on the way down, Matrix style.

To do this, fight

enemies. You can buy purple orbs from time statues to gain more symbols in

the DT gauge

Easy Auto

---------

You get easy auto when you do really bad on the first level. In this mode,

just by pressing the circle button, your sword will do different things

depending on the situation. You don't have to old down R1 to use your gun,

and by holding down X or square, you can use rapid fire.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A l a s t o r  S k i l l s

Stinger (Level 1)

-------

Move the analog stick in the direction Dante is facing, hold down R1 and

press the circle button. Dante will lunge his sword into the enemy. By

rapidly pressing the circle button, Dante will continue to jab the enemy

until it's dead.

Stinger (Level 2)

-------

Move the analog stick in the direction Dante is facing, hold down R1 and

press the circle button. Dante will lunge his sword into the enemy. By rapidly

pressing the circle button, Dante will continue to jab the enemy until it's

dead. You might have noticed that this move is just like the level one stinger

. That's because it IS like the level one stinger, except you can lunge your

sword from further away.

Round Trip

----------

Hold down the circle button, after Dante slashes with his sword, he will hold

it up. Let go of the circle button to throw the sword. It will attack an

enemy and stay there swinging around hitting it. The longer you hold down

the button, the longer the sword will attack the enemy for. You can use your

guns while the sword is attacking the enemy.

Air Hike

--------

This is like a wall jump. When you jump into the air, press the triangle

button again to be propelled further into the air. Otherwise known as a

double jump.

Air Raid

--------

While in Devil Trigger mode, jump and press R1. You will turn into a flying

demon! While in this demonic state, you can attack enemies below by using the

square and X buttons. When the Devil Trigger gauge runs out, so does the

power of Air Raid. You can also move around in the flying demonic mode. You

just can't move up and down, but you can move in any direction.

Vortex (Level 1)

------

While in Devil Trigger Mode, jump into the air and push forward and circle.

Dante will begin to swirl around attacking enemies left and right. Great for

big groups of enemies.

Vortex (Level 2)

------

While in Devil Trigger Mode, jump into the air and push forward and circle.

Dante will begin to swirl around attacking enemies left and right. Great for

big groups of enemies. The only difference between the two levels is that

Dante does more damage with level 2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I f r i t  S k i l l s

Magma Drive

-----------

Hold R1 and the analog stick in the direction of Dante's back. Press the

circle button. If you want, you can hold it to charge your fists up. Dante

will rush forward and upper cut the enemy. The enemy will fly up into the

air, just like a high time. From here, you can do a lot of the things you

could normally do with high time.

Kick 13 (Level 1)

-------

Hold the left analog stick in the direction Dante is facing, hold R1 and

press and hold circle. Dante's feet will begin to charge up with fire. The

power will be unleashed into the nearest enemy.

Kick 13 (Level 2)

-------

Hold the left analog stick in the direction Dante is facing, hold R1 and

press and hold circle. Dante's feet will begin to charge up with fire. The

power will be unleashed into the nearest enemy. Level 2 will allow you to

kick from further and do more damage

Rolling Blaze

-------------

Meteor (Level 1)

------

Hold R1. Now, hold the analog stick in the direction of Dante's back and

press circle. Dante will perform what I think is an upper cut, but when he

gets to the highest point, a huge fireball comes out of his fist. Very

effective against bosses and other enemies for that matter

Meteor (Level 2)

------

Hold R1. Now, hold the analog stick in the direction of Dante's back and

press circle. Dante will perform what I think is an upper cut, but when he

gets to the highest point, a huge fireball comes out of his fist. Very

effective against bosses and other enemies for that matter. Level 2 does

more damage than Level 1.

Inferno

-------

This move is really cool. While in Devil Trigger mode, jump up, move the

left analog stick around and push circle button. Dante will crash in the

found, erupting a couple deadly waves of fire into his foe. A very deadly

attack and good for large groups of enemies. It will make your DT gauge go

down faster though.

Introduction

------------

The first time I ever saw an advertisement for Devil May Cry, I honestly

didn't care about it. I thought that the main character, Dante, looked

strange. I also didn't like the gothic theme the game had. Then, I kept

hearing every talking about how great the game was. I looked at some more

screenshots, read some more news about it, I still didn't think it was more

than a Superman 64. Then, Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X came out. I went to

pick it up and discovered that it had the Devil May Cry demo with it. I took

the game home and popped in Devil May Cry first. From that moment on, I was

hooked. I played the demo for three hours straight. Waiting, for the full

version to come out. Now, it has, and I'm not disappointed in the least.

Graphics: 10/10

---------------

One of the highpoints of the game. The graphics are awesome. The backgrounds

are wonderfully detailed and the character models perfectly textured. Above

that, the game runs at a constant 40-60 frames per second, so there's never

any slowdown. All the cut scenes are done in real time. That's surprising,

because they look really good. The enemies are wonderfully detailed too. Of

course, you don't get much of a look at them because the action is so fast

paced, but they really do have great character models. Some people dismiss

the PlayStation 2 because some of the games have "jaggies" caused by the

PS2's hardware. Well, those people can rejoice, because this game almost has

no jaggies, at least none that you can really notice. The backgrounds are

also crisp and clear, not blurry and hard to look at as some people say.

Game Play: 10/10

----------------

And people say great graphics can't be accompanied by great game play.

Everything about this game play is top notch. For the majority of the game,

you will have a sword on your back and a gun in your hand. You can use both

of them to make creative combos. You can lunge your sword into the enemy,

throw him up, and put a couple pounds of lead into his body. That's the combo

that Devil May Cry has been made famous for. Jumping is easy and the control

placement is perfect. As you kill enemies, you're "Devil Trigger Gauge" will

begin to fill up. When it's completely full, you can press L1 to turn into a

demon form! Dante moves quicker and attacks stronger. The poer runs out when

you're Devil Trigger goes down to zero. There are also lots of bosses

throughout the game. They're all pretty cool. The only problem is the camera

sometimes gets a little weird and can disorient you for a few seconds. As

you do weapon combos, you will be given ratings. Things like "Dull, Cool,

Awesome" will give you an idea of how good your combo really is. There are

only two primary weapons that you will probably be using throughout the game.

Those are the Alastor, a sword, and Ifrite, a pair of fiery gauntlets sent

from hell.

Music: 10/10

------------

The music only adds to the greatness that this game is. The gothic type

music adds to the creepiness of the castle. Then, as soon as you run into a

horde of enemies, the music switches over to a fast action paced beat that

gets your heart moving. The sound effects are really something as well. The

Puppet enemies will scrape across the floor as they move, and their razor

Sharp blades will clank together. As Dante jump kicks off a wall, he will

Breathe a sigh of exhaustion. The enemies will sometimes growl at you as

They charge towards you. Even the character voices are well done. The voices

Fit their appearance and personality perfectly.

Story: 9/10

-----------

This is the down point of the game. There isn't much of a story to tell about.

Basically, Dante owns a business named "Devil May Cry" where he kills demons

For anyone willing to pay the hefty fee. Then, one night, he gets a visitor.

A girl named Trish. She plays a big part throughout the game. She takes you

To a castle where a great evil will rise up from the netherworld and take

Over the human realm. She needs your help. Well, you end of going. Once in

The castle, its basically one concept. Get through the puzzles and missions.

Sometimes, before a mission, there will be a cut scene. The cut scenes very

rarely tell anything. Sometimes, you might not even know what's going on.

There are a lot of plot twists and only playing through the game will allow

You to discover them.

Rent/Buy: Buy

-------------

You will not regret buying this game. Capcom has gone to great lengths to

Make everything about this game cool. Once you beat it on normal, you'll

Unlock hard mode, beating that, will unlock an even harder mode. You'll

Eventually end up with a mode that you can be in Devil Trigger mode all the

Time. Also, for every mission, you get ranked on how fast you complete it.

It goes from D Rank to S Rank, S being the best. On top of the 23 regular

Missions, there are 10 secret missions hidden throughout the castle. It'll

Take all your skill, or at least most of it to find and complete all these

Secret missions. This game will keep you playing for a while to come.

This game's so great, even the Devil May Cry out of sheer happiness.

13. Blue Orb Locations

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

   Mission 1

   ----------------

• Well, before this mission actually starts, as you're running up the path,

Jump to the bridge like thing extending over the path. Then, run into the

Small domed building to claim the orb

• in the back corner of the main foyer room, there is a blue orb behind a

Fenced area. It's easier to get if you have Air Hike, but if you don't,

Then you'll have to wall jump off the side. It's a lot harder, but not

  Impossible

• after you unlock the red orb door, go through it. There are three sets of

Armor on the wall. Destroy all of them. One contains a blue orb fragment...

• As soon as you reach an area with a shrine off to the side, the one that

You will need to stick the trident into later in the game, there is a pool

Of water on either side of it. Jump into the left one to get a blue orb

• When you reach a giant airplane, with marionettes hanging from the ceiling,

Wall jump onto the airplane. There is a blue orb on the right side of the

  wing.

   Mission 2

   ----------------

• When you first enter Mission 2, go to the end of the hallway and jump up

and kick the wall. If you do it right, you'll do a kick jump and go a

little bit out of view of the camera. When you come back down, a blue orb

  should come down with you.

   Mission 3

   ----------------

• Before you face Phantom, but after you fight the underground skulls, jump

back across the broken segments of the bridge. There's a blue orb fragment

sitting in front of the trial of lions tablet

• On top of the bridge, there is an orb, you have to jump really height o get

  at it though...

• Secret Mission 1 - Critical Hit

Location: Right after you beat Phantom in Mission 3, go back outside,

drop down into the water where you fought the skull things

This mission is pretty hard. You need to beat a Sin Scissors with only one

attack. Well, technically two. Anyways, run down the tunnel and step on the

circle thing in the middle. This triggers the battle. Wait until it floats

down right beside you. Jump up and slash down at its mask. Then, fire a

shotgun blast directly in it's face. If done properly, it will die and a

blue orb will appear. It's a hard mission, so don't get discouraged too

  easily.

   Mission 4

   ----------------

• Secret Mission 2 - Baby Phantom

Location: After you've beaten Phantom for the first time in Mission 3,

exit the door to go to Mission 4. Re-enter the cathedral

This mission is easy. You must kill 100 baby phantoms in 30 seconds. Simply

use your handguns and go crazy on the floor. Another way is to just use a

  holy water.

• Secret Mission 3 - Baby Phantom 2

Location: After you have done Baby Phantom 1, head back out of the

cathedral. Start running down the hallway, when Phantom starts

chasing you, keep running down the hall. Go through the door at

the very back to get into this secret mission.

This mission is a little harder than the last. You aren't allowed to use

any weapons or holy water. It's a small area, so just trample them all. It

might take a few tries because the camera gets a little weird.

• Secret Mission 4 - The Three Beasts

Location: After you  show the Pride of Lion to the gate keeper and

fight the shadow (Or death scythe on easy auto) exit the room.

Go down the hall a little to find the door leading back to the

room with an airplane. Go to the back corner and light up the

crest to take you down to the basement.

This mission can be easy, or hard, depending on how good you are with

shadows. You have to fight three at once. If you use a holy water, all of

their cores will be exposed. That's one strategy for killing them. The

other, is to run around, jumping and firing the shotgun. As soon as you see

an exposed core, attack it. You'll get a blue orb for beating it.

• Before the battle with Nell Angelo, air raid over to the other side of the

level. Air raid again up to the tower and try to hover yourself on top of

the piece so that you'll fall down on it.

   Mission 5

   ----------------

Not Available

   Mission 6

   ----------------

• In the area that you begin the game in, it's located at the pile of rubble

as you climb upwards. Needs air raid

   Mission 7

   ----------------

• Secret Mission 5 - One Eyed Evil

Location: After beating Mission 6 and going onto 7, go back to the room

where you got the rusty key. Outside the room however, you'll

have to take out all the bugs and break the curse on the door

              before hand.

Now, the idea is to make one of the giant spiders kill the other. That

means you can't kill them yourself. The easiest way to do this is to jump

around in between them. Then, when they try to attack you, move out of the

way and hopefully, they'll attack each other. Your health keeps going down,

so try not to get hit, and make it quick.

    Mission 8

    ----------------

• On a ledge above the horse statues in the area where you find the trident

• Located in t he right pool of water after the barricade

   Mission 9

   ----------------

• As soon as you enter the mission, go to the right of the screen, you will

find an alcove behind the shrubs, smack the tombstone a few times with your

sword to uncover a blue orb fragment

   Mission 11

   -----------------

• Secret Mission 6 - Wandering Ghosts

Location: In mission 11, head back to where you fought the Cyclops in

              mission 10. It's a secret mission!

This is fairly easy. The objective is to reach the blue orb high in the air

by jumping off enemies. The easiest way to do this is so run forward jump up

and kick off the first ghost. You should reach the orb, if you don't then

  keep trying.

• It's inside of a gated area in the starting area. Wall jump up into the

opening, then jump down to the orb

• Inside the well, on your way to get to the sign of chastity, you will

encounter a lot of Blades, defeat them all to receive a blue orb fragment

   Mission 13

   -----------------

• Stinger to the bow of the ship from the highest point of the mast nearest

  to the bow.

• Secret Mission 7 - Water Cell

   Mission 14

   -----------------

• After you leave the ship, it's off to the left

• When you reach the area with the Blades, instead of going through the mine

you normally do, go through the other one, and go through the cavern until you

  reach the orb

• As soon as you come up to the surface on an elevator, jump up to the ledge

hanging down and a blue orb will fall down from above

   Mission 15

   -----------------

• Secret Mission 8 - Treasure of the Reaper

Location: Now, head back to the room in Mission 14 where the spikes rose

out of the floor. To the right of the elevator is a picture of

a skull. Examine it to start a secret mission.

This mission is HARD. Three Shadows will come out of the skull picture so

dodge the first one immediately after starting. When you try to go after

one, the other will usually shoot spikes up at you. It's really difficult.

Try using the Nightmare Beat if you can. If you don't have it, then use the

trusty old shotgun. When an orb is exposed, go into Devil Trigger and

Stinger that orb till it turns red.

• In the Blue Emblem door, hop down to the bottom floor and open the

breakable door. Break open all of the barrels, etc to find a blue orb

  fragment

• It's under the stand holding the pair of lances in the red emblem door

• This one is in the highest level of the coliseum

   Mission 16

   -----------------

• Secret Mission 9 - Shadow of Darkness

Location: After you beat the First Nightmare in Mission 17, head back

out of the cathedral. Head down to the end of the hall and go

through the door. It will go to the secret mission sub screen.

Now, you're in the airplane room to begin with. The objective is to hunt

and defeat all the Shadows. Well, you don't see any in here, or do you..

Jump on top of the airplane to find two sets of red glowing eyes. Jump down

and they will come after you. Kill them both, you should know how to kill

a shadow by now. After they are both dead, try to exit the room, you'll be

transported into the main foyer. Kill the single Shadow in here, it's in

the corner where a blue orb once lay. When it's dead, go out of the gray

doors. It'll take you to the bridge area. Kill the shadow in here to

  complete the mission.

• In the main foyer (the room where you started mission 1) there is a blue

  orb fragment behind the staircase

• In the main foyer, jump off of the horseback riders head

• Jump under the head in front of the Time Statue room in the long corridor.

• In the bedroom in the mirrored dimension, beside the bed

• Secret Mission 10 - Stairway of Tranquility

Location: After Secret Mission 9, you'll be left standing in front of

the bridge. Head out of the doors and back to the coliseum. Go

              through the lance doors.

This mission is just plain annoying. The objective is to reach the blue orb

in the sky by climbing the stairway of death. Well, the "stairway" of death

is a lot of skulls. The skulls will make a weird noise that's sure to get

on your nerves in a very short time period. You have to jump from skull

to skull in order to reach the blue orb. You can't land on top of them

though, because you have to kick jump. The camera angles don't help either.

Just try to keep a steady hand, and eventually, you should be able to get

  it. Air hike also helps.

   Mission 17

   -----------------

• Secret Mission 11 - Blue Gem in the Sky

• After you defeat the dinosaur and hop up on the right hand balcony, there

is an alcove. Examine the sign and a blue orb will fall down.

   Mission 18

• Secret Mission 12 - Holy Bangle

Location: At the beginning of Mission 21, you'll be in a room with a

statue of time. Right across from it is a wall, examine it to

              trigger the mission.

This secret mission is longer than some missions! Start by running through

the halls. You'll get a blue orb as you go. You'll also have to fight a

couple of nobodies. When you reach a big room, jump up on the fungus type

things to get to a rock level with a dinosaur head. You can't shoot his

Fireballs back like before, so start attacking him. Try using meteor a

couple of times, if you don't have it, then jump across the chasm to the

head and hit it with your sword. You'll have to climb back up after each

hit though. When it's dead, hop down. You'll now have to fight a shadow.

When it's killed, an elevator will appear above you. Climb up to the top

of the area and jump to it. Let it carry you to a platform. From there,

jump to another elevator. Jump to the rock it carries you to. Run forward

to get the Time Bangle, and finish the mission.
