METAL GEAR SOLID

"Metal Gear Solid", when it appeared back on the Playstation was a benchmark in gaming. It was a game which was like no other, with the emphsis on stealth, rather then gung-ho action, even though there was a fair amount of action.

The characters in Metal Gear Solid were also some of the greatest to grace the home entertainment system. The Manga-Style names of "Revolver Ocelot, Vulcan Raven, Psycho Mantis, Decoy Octopus", and of course, "Solid Snake", where some of the greatest ever created.

The games story centered around "Snake" being sent into a mission in Alaska, where a group of ex-Fox Hound members are going to start a nuclear strike. Snake is there to see if they have the capabilities to do so, and if they do, stop them.

But, rather then center the story just on that one aspect, writer/director Hideo Kojima managed to craft together a story, which in my mind, dealt with human exploration, and featured a little on cloning. The story was one of the key aspects which turned this into such a wonderful and extraordinary game.
METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SON'S OF LIBERTY

And now we Have "Metal Gear Solid 2: Son's Of Liberty", sequel to the PSX's most successful game ever made, in my mind.

The game, as before, follows the exploits of "Solid Snake" as he jumps aboard the Tanker "Discovery" after hearing information that a brand new Metal Gear is being carried as cargo. But as he arrives, the entire ship is taken over by Mercenaries, being led by Revolver Ocelot and Col Gurlukovich.

The second game, this time being developed for Sony's Super home entertainment system, the Playstation 2, is even more realistic then Snakes first PSX outing. Also included in the game, apart from crisp graphics, is realistic wheather conditions, interactive levels, and a whole host of brand new realistic characters.

This game looks absolutely amazing, as it is should do coming from the outstanding graphical abilities of the PS2. It is also, as reported by Kojima-San, going to be larger and longer then the first game. Some people may have argued that the PSX original was just too short. I had to disagree, as I foud it perfect length.

The second game is being touted as the most anticipated game on PS2. By the screenshots and information, you will certainly agree that this game is going to be fantastic.

Roll on Winter 2001!
For most of the people out there who have a PC or a PSX, you should know that Metal gear Solid (Direct PC Port), was one of the greatest games to come out on the two systems, but there is some History to the games too. You see, MGS wasn't the first game in the series, and to non-mgs puritans, you would've been able to tell due to the back story of MGS on PSX. It had things like Zanzibar, Big Boss, Grey Fox, etc.

They were intelligently intertwined into the plot, so that you never really had to know or have played the MSX games. But there were two previous outings that "Solid Snake" had appeared in. "Metal Gear" and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake". The two games were major successes and it led to Kojima-San creating an all new adventure on the Playstation.

Although the GBC version of Metal Gear Solid wasn't actually a direct port, it was a side story in the series, which too, was amazing to play. But heres the info on the PSX and its Sequel...
