In Final Fantasy VIII, there are some different methods of transportation:

Cars: You can rent cars to move faster through the world map, and sometimes you�ll will get a car to go to a specific place.

Naval Ship: Used to go to Dollet when you are doing the SeeD exam.

Trains: You�ll be able to use trains, this method is only used at the beggining, because later in the game you�ll get airships.(You�ll use a train when doing the Timber mission(after you met Rinoa))

Balamb Garden: The garden where you begin, later in the game you�ll discover that it can fly.

Galbadia Garden: Used by Galbadia to invade Balamb Garden.

White SeeD: You go to this ship to find Ellone.

Chocobo: Chocobo�s are very fast, and you can�t encounter enemies while riding a Chocobo.

Ragnarok: The best airship in FFVIII; and will be the one that will let you go to the island where you get Bahamut and fight Ultima Weapon.(To know how to get there, check the Cheats and Secrets Section!)
