If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Read the scripture and then answer the questions that follow.
The scripture quotes in these lessons are from the King James Version.
Please feel free to cross reference these quotes with the translation that you use.

Romans 10:14-17 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Is faith in God produced by hearing the Word of God?

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Is the gospel of Christ the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes?

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Can we be pleasing to God if we do not believe?

Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God?

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Will those who do not believe in Christ go to Heaven?

James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Does the Bible say that we are saved (or justified) by faith only?

Hebrews 5:8-9 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him

In addition to hearing the Gospel and believing in Christ, does the Bible say that a person must be obedient to Christ in order to be saved?

Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Is it your understanding that in addition to hearing the gospel and believing in Christ that a person must repent of his or her sins in order to be obedient to Christ?

If you love Christ, will you do what He says?

Do you love Christ?

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Godly sorrow is not repentance but causes a person to repent.

Sorrow over getting caught in sin is not Godly sorrow.

Godly sorrow is sorrow that sin was committed.

Acts 26:19-20 Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: 20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Repentance is cause by Godly sorrow and causes one to turn to God and away from sin.

If a person will not repent and show their repentance through their works, do they love Christ?

Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Should we consider the love and goodness of God as a reason to repent?
