Paul wrote, “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy
mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever
believeth on him shall not be ashamed” (Romans 10:8-11). Without
the confession of our faith in Christ we cannot be saved.
Jesus said that if we are ashamed to confess him in front of men He will be ashamed to confess us before the Father in heaven (Matthew 10:32-33).
When the eunuch was asked of Philip if he believed in Christ, he made
this confession, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God”
(Acts 8:37). This is the confession that is recorded for us in the
New Testament. Why would we make any other confession that this?
