I for one recommended this book as a source for those hollywood actors who early in their careers enlisted in the US Navy. One should never loose sight of the sacrifice many Americans made during World War II. Every generation has its heroes and the World War II generation had a great many who stepped forward and served our nation in its great time of need.

In the foreward to "Anyone Here a Sailor" the following was written by Pierre Salinger:

During WWII, more than  60,000 sailors perished to provide peace and security for our nation. Let us not forget our history. To quote the late President John F. Kennedy, "Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make life worthwhile... can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction. I served in the United States Navy."
