Personally, I think that some shows are simply too stupid to be on TV. Others think so also. I dislike many shows on the air, and they are shown anyway, but the shows that I hate the most are courtroom and police dramas.
You see one at least every night, using the same tired, cliche cases, used dialogue, and more often than not, bad acting.. I have given all the shows I know of a try, and they are all the same, but with different actors. There is usually a main detective or agent, going to different crime scenes, catching the (always odd-looking) bad guy, and along the way they throw in some "twists". For instance, the bad guy gets away, the bad guy is somehow related to an agent, or maybe even that the bad guy is secretly innocent!
The lines they use might not actually be that bad if they weren't spoken to an extremely dramatic (and almost usual) tone, which of course is backed with a very loud and irritating soundtrack involving many timpany drums and maybe a violin or two.
I cannot say this about ALL of these shows. I am sure there is a good one out there somewhere. As for the show on animal planet about the ASPCA, it is even worse. The main "officers" go to many exotic downtown locals, saving mice, kittens and anarexic animals. It is a great cause, but for heaven's sake, they act like they're a pair of gods or goddesses, to which every pet owner must bow and tremble at their mighty power. It is insane how important they act.
Officer: I think I hear a dying mouse in there. Please bring it out, or I will be forced to whip out my lasso of godliness and go medievil on your neck.
Resident: Is that a threat? And besides, how should I know if there IS a mouse or not?
Officer: It is, and what of it? Also, you need new grammer hick-boy!
Resident: ...*slams door*
Officer: *on walky-talky {fisher-price}* Yes, so should I book him for 10 years then?
Well, that is how MOST episodes go. Anyway, the ASPCA would be okay, if all their officers aren't like the ones on TV. See you next time with a new article!
