YumYum was probably the sweetest cat I ever met.  She loved to snuggle and hog the heat registers during the winters.  She was a "torby" - a cross between a tortoise-shell and a tabby, and each of her hairs had at least 3 different colors on it.  As her coat would shed out and grow, she would change color!  She was very very quiet and hardly ever meowed.  The loudest I ever heard he be was when she was stalking a sparrow in the lawn.  So much for "sneaking up."  She died of liver cancer.

Butterscotch was our first rescue cat.  At the end of the school year his first owner didn't want him anymore, so I took him with me when I went off to graduate school.  Scotty was a marmelade cat, a classic orange and white tabby with white paws except for one orange toe.  He had the looooongest whiskers, and when he purred he would drown out the TV set.  He had many health problems throughout his life, but defied the odds for over 14 years.  He was euthanized after an unknown type of cancer took away his quality of life.
Snickers, a shelter cat, was a BIG calico DSH. She came to our house in 1996 to rule with an iron claw. She had to leave too soon, when her kidneys failed.
