Spaniel Puppy of the Year 2006
The Puppy of the Year Competition is run in
conjunction with the Cocker of the Year Competition – giving all puppies owned
by members (regardless of place of residence) a chance to attend the nominated
pointscore shows and qualify for the finals in December of each year.
Points are accrued from Baby Puppy (3
months) through to Puppy (up to 12 months) classes and the top four qualifiers
are invited to compete in two rounds (competition decided by random draw on the
night) for Puppy of the Year. On the following pages please find results for
this year’s competition thus far, a table of results, a listing of pointscore
shows and the rules of the competition.

Rules for
the 2006 Competition
- The 2006 Cocker Puppy of the Year Competition final will
be held in conjunction with the Club’s end of the year celebration at which
the winners will be presented their trophies.
- The 4 cocker puppies that accrue the highest number of
points during the competition will be eligible to compete and will be invited
to attend the final. In addition, a reserve dog will be nominated that
finished immediately in the tally after the 4 finalists.
- The top 4 scoring puppies will be chosen to compete in a
round of 2 heats and then the winners fo these heats will compete for
“COCKER PUPPY OF THE YEAR”
- Points are awarded as follows:

points
3rd 1
point
These points will accrue from
wins at the 18 nominated shows for the year.
- Points for one class per entrant only will be counted
per show (maximum of 3 points per entrant per pointscore show)
- In the event of a draw, a count back of class of breed
will be done.
- The competition is only open to financial members of the
Cocker Spaniel Club of Qld Inc. Points will be counted from when a person
becomes a financial member, and dogs owned in partnership must have all
members financial.
- A panel of 3 judges will remain anonymous until the day
of the Contest
- The draw for the heats will be conducted immediately
prior to the judging and each heat will be judged by 3 judges. The judging
will consist of playoffs, with 2 initial rounds of two dogs each followed by a
final round with the remaining dogs competing for the title of “COCKER
PUPPY OF THE YEAR” (Only one title is awarded, there will be no Runner Up
awarded).
- The decision of the subcommittee and the judges will be
final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Any advice of points will be published on the newsletter
and website. It is the responsibility of the member to check the points tally
and advise of any errors.
- No recognition will be given to dogs absent on the day
of judging and they will be replaced by a reserve. Any nominee withdrawn by
the owner will be final. All withdrawals must be in writing no later than 5
days prior to judging.
