How to Make Your Itinerary

First of all, ask yourself what you'd like to see for the trip. Let's say, someone likes suburb scenes of natural formations. Another may want to see magnificent architectural buildings with their histories. Even going to beach paradise, someone likes to have more time to relax but the others like to do a variety of water sports. If you know your favourites, it will be easier to decide how long to stay in different places.

The second thing to consider is the length of your vacation. It is no good to fly far away for a week holiday. Long transport time will shorten your chance to see more. The air ticket is relatively expensive in proportion to the number of days you stay there.

Budget is also a constraint on itinerary planning. A sum of HK$20,000 saving can
be enough for 2 months trip to travel around in Africa, but definitely inadequate for European trip.

Prepare Your Own Itinerary

After considering the above, decide your destination and gather some information about the places. You need to read travel books, know the transport time from one city to another, briefly know what o see in those places. The following may help you as a reference.

7-day trip

Stop at one or two places in a country. For most Asian countries, the air ticket prices are cheap and involve less flying time from Hong Kong. However, do not attempt totravel all around the country nor to cover several countries. Let's say, only visit an islands in Thailand instead of Thailand+Singapore+Malaysia all together (like what the travel tours offer!). In fact, you can leave them next time as the ticket price is not expensive.

14-day trip

We still suggest you to visit S.E. Asian countries. You can see more or travel to
different towns within one country. More flying only wastes your time and add
up your costs. Forget Europe if you can!

30-day trip

It is worth to go farther like Europe, Africa, America, South America, the Middle
East or New Zealand, etc. Time allows you to cross countries. A trip to France, the
Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland is very enough but not too many. Greece and
Turkey are far away from Western European countries. Boat trips between Greek
islands take time. Concentrate on some parts rather than choosing isolated ones or
extreme ends. For instance, travelling 3-4 countries like Israel, Jordan and Egypt in
the Middle East is good enough. For some very large/long countries like Indonesia,
Nepal, you may need a month to look around (longer transport time between islands).

60-day trip

Say, for 60 days in the Middle East, I can go to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey plus
Greece. If in Europe, I can make use of my Eurail Pass to travel around up to 7-8
countries including Italy which stretches long at south or go to south east to Spain.

Packing Tips

Apart from the below tips box for packing, see our professional packing techniques which can help you to lessen the weight of your backpack.

1. Pack as little a you can.
2. Bring old clothing ready to threw away, you can buy memorial T-shirt as daily use on the way of your trip.
