28 Nov 03 - Paintball tournament at Camp Doha. (5 Teams from Company C to participate.)

29 Nov 03 - Softball tournament at Doha. Company C vs. HHC, winner takes all.

1. When should we expect to see extension orders? ans: We have received the extension orders. We are currently waiting on individual orders for each soldier and family member. Should expect to see them by the end of the month.

2. Is Atlanta available for soldiers traveling on leave? ans: Yes, Atlanta is now available as a final destination and some soldiers have already received tickets for that location. All soldiers will be flow to Atlanta now unless otherwise requested.

3. Do we have soldiers who are getting married while on leave? ans: Ofcourse; 1SG Bostic, SGT White, and SGT Butler are joining the ranks of the married life. Congratulate these soldiers if you see them home on leave, I wouldn't count on seeing them though.

Welcome to the first edition of "Voice of the Desert." I wanted to take a minute and thank all the families for their continued support, your soldiers and myself are eternally grateful. As all of you are probably already aware we have received our extension orders, 18 June 2003. We should be receiving individual orders to pass on to families back home in the next couple of weeks. Don't be too discouraged by this date, this is the date we will be off active duty, to include demobilization and all accrued leave. We are still on track for previous projections.
Everyone is continueing to perform their jobs in an outstanding manner. There again, our success can be directly related to the support we have back home. Before you know it we will be reunited and back to our ordinary daily routines. Keep your heads high and continue to keep everyone in your daily prayers. Until next time, god bless each of you for your support.

Soldier Interviews:

1. What do you think about this experience of active duty?
     ans: It's been a pretty good experience of what deployment is like.
2. How do you keep yourself motivated when not on duty?
     ans: I email family and friends, and love watching the NASCAR race
     every weekend!
3. Is this deployment what you thought it would be?
     ans: No, because I don't feel like we got the information we needed to
     prepare us for this deployment.
4. How do you feel this active duty experience will help you?
     ans: I am retiring when we get back home, but I think it has taught
     younger soldiers about the deployment process, which will prepare
     them if we ever get in this situation again.
5. Please give one comment to your family and friends back home?
     ans: I hope to be home soon! I love you and miss you!
