Installing the windows.
We found a really nice big salvaged window at the Taos Restore (Habitat for Humanity)and the perfect size for the south facing wall.  We also found other windows at salvage sales around Taos.  Windows were secured into walls with "gringo blocks".  Gringo blocks are commonly used in adobe construction for securing door and window frames to walls.  Once the wall is built to the height of the top edge of the window, lintels will be placed on top of the window frames to transfer the roof loads to the walls.
Reid attaches a "gringo block" to the window frame. Kristina imbedding gringo-block into cobwall.
Nails pounded into gringo block add "bite" into cob material. Kristina found this stained glass window at a the Restore in Santa Fe.
Kristina created this alter niche inside our north wall. The south facing window is almost completely covered with cob.
Bottles were installed in walls to let light and color in. Whew!, Now its time to eat!
