After covering the floor with gravel and intalling the door we decided to move in. We covered the exposed gravel with mats and rugs to keep the dust down. (We will work on our earthen floor when the weather gets warmer in spring.) We moved in one of our smaller futon beds over the rugs. We also made sure our stove pipes and chimney was properly installed. We found a good solid chimney cap from the local Habitat for Humanity "Restore" for $2. |

On Thursday, (Dec 11) we added corrugated roofing to protect the overhang over the door from moisture. The corrugated steel was oriented such that it would align with the roofing of our future extension. It was also shaped to serve as a gutter to funnel and direct water flow towards the south. |

Our make-shift table positioned by our south facing window. Note small solar panel positioned by window. This panel powers our little nine volt portable stereo cd/radio. |
