Installing the door and windows.
We kept on building and stopped at certain stages when we could not go further because of a planned door or window.  Once fixture/frame were installed we would continue to build around/on it and embed it with the cob. Nails and pieces of scrap wood was nailed "porcupined" on to outside edges of door and window frames to allow the cob to "grab" and hold it securely in place.  We constructed all doors, doorframes and window framing ourselves using 2x6s for framing and 1x10s, 1x6s, for door.
Newly constructed door/frame assembly. Kristina checks to see if the door really works!
Bolts are installed (cemented) into foundation.
Door is installed with supports. Cob is built up on door frame.
Detail of cob/doorframe connection.
Kristina thinks this is a good place for a window!
Reid examines window embedded in cob.
Time for a break!
