An 18-year-old ne'er-do-well who allegedly kicked in the door to Laurie Boykin's Auburn, Ala., home one afternoon in a robbery attempt couldn't have known his shenanigans would prove an enormous pain in his rear. Boykin's response to the threat on her safety came in the form of a single well-placed shot to the intruder's buttocks. Police latter nabbed the suspect at a nearby medical center after he apparently hightailed it away from the scene by hitching a ride with a passing motorist. I believe that Ms. Boykin would have been robbed, beaten, raped, or murdered if she would have had to take a trigger lock off of the firearm that she used to defend herself from this criminal. Trigger locks and other types of safety measures that make the firearm unuseable in an instant is a big problem for those who need a firearm quickly for self defense.
