McMinnville, Tenn., homeowner Mark Haley awoke to the sounds of a break-in during the predawn hours one Tuesday and went to investigate armed with his gun. According to Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny, the home invader had kicked in a basement door and was heading toward the bedroom area of the home when he met the armed homeowner. "I told him to stop right there, but he took another step. Then I cocked the gun and told him to stop again. That's when he stopped. He was about three steps away from where my children were sleeping, so I knew I had a decision to make. All I could think of was the safety of my family," said Haley, who held the man until authorities arrived. Acording to Matheny, the man was apparently under the influence of an intoxicant and had earlier attempted to break into the nearby home of Haley's father. Attempted burglary, robbery, murder, home invasion are all illegal in this country and yet the laws were not enough to keep this intoxicated man out of the Haley home. The laws are not enough to keep bad people from doing bad things. And yet because some bad people use guns, the lawmakers, especially in my home state of California, want to take away firearms from decent law abiding citizens. Don't the lawmakers realize that crimanals don't abide by the law? THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM CRIMINALS and only law abiding people abide by the law. It seem simple enough to me that even a moron could understand this. Well, what does this say about our law makers? |
