Coexisting
Chapter Two
Night after night that week, dreams of the falling kind occupied Twylas subconscious. They did not bother her that much, but her instinctive reactions while falling were anything but normal. These dreams were vivid, and the scenery out of this world. It reminded her of Cybertron.
"Its still been happening? Thats pretty weird," Mac said through his cereal the following weekend.
"Reminds me of that one episode with Sideways and those kids," added Ingrid.
"Yeah, it does," Twyla agreed, "The first night it was really fuzzy, kind of like static on a TV. It still is, but its getting clearer."
"You dont think it had anything to do with that lighting, do you?" Ingrid asked. "It did hit you after all."
"I dont know, but the dreams did start that night. It could be the cause."
"Hmm," Mac murmured.
As the days wore on, the unknown presence that had been hibernating inside Twylas mind grew stronger until it finally awoke one morning. mm? Where am I? the presence tried to look through Twylas eyes in the early morning twilight. This is not the base
He tried to sit up, but failed and fell back onto the floor. Huh? This doesnt feel like my body, memories began to flood back to him. Just as he started to sort though his own thoughts, the screeching sound of an alarm clock interrupted the early morning.
Twyla sat up and ran a hand though her hair while Ingrid shot up to hit the snooze bar. She fell like dead weight back onto the bed. The raven-haired girl slowly stood up, "Morning," the presence was unconsciously shoved to the back of Twylas mind as she went about preparing for school.
"I had the strangest vision this morning," Twyla admitted to Mac and Ingrid while walking to school.
"Other than your strange dreams of falling?" Ingrid quipped as Loretta walked up.
"Whats up?" she greeted the trio.
"Twylas having weird dreams again."
"It wasnt a dream," Twyla defended, "It seemed more real than that, like a memory. I saw Jetfire explode in a ball of flames."
The presence started to pay attention at the mention of his name.
Now it was Macs turn to tease Twyla," Oh no! Your poor beloved Jetfire, what are you gonna do?"
Twyla flushed and covered the lower half of her face; Ingrid swatted her brother.
The presence now known as Jetfire inside Twylas mind nearly shouted. Hey! Thats not nice!
"Thats not nice!" the words had left Twylas mouth before she could stop them. The others stopped and looked at her as she covered her mouth a second time. "I have no idea."
"Thatsokay," Loretta said.
Luckily for Twyla, the day when by normally, until she was sitting in the middle of math. Twyla sat at her desk, half paying attention, as the teacher droned on unenthusiastically about logarithms.
Hand on her chin and arm on the desk, she shook herself awake for the sixth time that hour.
This guy is so boring.
Yeah, being half-aware as she was, Twyla did not realize she mistook Jetfires comment as a thought of her own.
I mean really, does he really have to explain that log base e is natural log nineteen times? Come on!
Twyla, who had not been counting, almost dropped her pencil. What?
uhhhi.
She nearly fell out of her seat.
