           IN  STORES  NOW
The final gig of Ozzfest 04 was supposed to happen 9/4 in West Palm Beach, FL. Hurricane Frances had other plans and the show was cancelled. One of the bad points of that includes not being able to hear the sweet evil coming from Iommi's SG. Another is not witnessing Rob Halford back with Judas Priest.  For weeks now, everyone from Rolling Stone magazine to my Red Lobster waiter have been saying how Priest were outshining Sabbath each night. I will tell you why I believe it. Two reasons: set lists and vocalists. Sabbath's best songs are on releases w/out Ozzy. That limits their choices. Iommi and Butler can hold their own, regardless of drummer, but Ozzy cannot compete with Rob Halford. This Ozzfest was not even supposed to have Sabbath until the last minute. Was that because Ozzy thought his only hope against total humiliation was to have his boys with him? Many will say I am wrong . Ozzy recently could not go on in New Jersey due to illness. Bill Ward and a local DJ announced Halford would be singing for Sabbath instead. The crowd replied with boos. When the Sabs finally took the stage with Halford, the boos started again and objects were thrown. I personally would have been happy because I feel it likely gave the Sab's tired set list some new life .
As a sabbath fan, I don't want other fans most recent recolletion of the band to be the year Priest blew them away There is a difference between never saying die and heading out to the highway. - M.P.

Either one of these bands would be a draw in themselves, but both on the same night ?
Killer. Dio has a flawless voice and presence while 'Thrax is as hungry as ever. If you think these bands are too old school for you, it's time for your lesson.  Treat yourself to a great night and learn why a lot of the newer artists hail these two bands as influences. Then come back to this site and tell us what you thought in the guestbook.

This 1990 release was the fourth for Megadeth. While some so-called metal bands were shifting their attention to ballads and an MTV friendly approach, Dave Mustaine still had a vision of intensity for his band. This album captures that intensity and, thanks to Mustaine's focus, we can now enjoy it 24 bit digitally remastered and remixed by Dave himself  A lot of companies are jumping on the "remastered" cash cow, but for Mustaine to sit down and take part himself is really cool. He even wrote the liner notes. To sum it up, this cd will grab you by the hair, throw you to the ground and kick you in the ribs. It is lyrically intelligent and musically brutal. The bonus tracks are three previously unreleased demo's ( Rust in Peace, Holy Wars...The Punishment Due  and Take No Prisoners) as well as My Creation wherein Dave is Dr Frankenstein. The demos do differ from the originals in a slightly lyrical and obvious musical fashions. I have been let down by many other bands attempts to remaster, but I can tell you that this is the finest I have ever heard. Sounds barely audible on the original are prominent here and if you listen with headphones heaven is a step away. The sleeve contains some cool tour photos and a cool thing about this is that it is just one of eight new Megadeth reissues out now. I cannot wait to get the rest and I trust you'll enjoy Rust In Peace as well as I did.  Thanks Dave !     - M.P
