The 7th Tennessee Company B  is now recruiting!
The 7th Tennessee Infantry, Company B portrays Confederate soldiers who fought in Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia from 1862 through 1865.  We are committed to the ideals of commemorating this era of American history and educating the public about the Civil War through battle reenactments, living history demonstrations, parades, classroom presentations, and battlefield preservation efforts.

While our unit seeks to accurately portray the life of the Confederate soldier in battle and in camp, we participate in a mix of campaign and family-oriented events and encourage the participation of family members in this hobby.

Originally formed by Paul Huhn of Baltimore, Maryland in 1984, Company B has grown to over thirty active members who live in south central and southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

From March through November our unit gets together at least once each month for a battle reenactment or living history.  Members are not required to attend every event.  We realize that the demands of modern life make such a commitment difficult.  However, we find that the friendships and company spirit that have developed over the years lead most of us to attend as often as our schedules permit.

Getting started is fairly easy, just say the word that you want to participate and you will be swarmed with offers of help to get started.  Our unit has enough spare uniforms and equipment to outfit anyone who desires to experience an event before making a financial commitment.  In fact, realizing that the initial investment is significant, we frequently lend out pieces of equipment until a new recruit is able to buy all of his own.  Most folks who try out the hobby get geared up over a six-month period.  We strongly recommend that new recruits consult with more experienced reenactors before purchasing a uniform, rifle, or other equipment.  This can help you avoid purchasing unnecessary gear and insure that what you do buy is consistent with the look Company B strives to portray.

We would welcome the opportunity to talk with you.  We think you will find Civil War reenacting a most rewarding hobby.  If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be in line of battle with hundreds or even thousands of soldiers, the smoke, the noise, the excitement, you've got to try it!  Call or e-mail one of our recruiting representatives and join us in the field!
