DIVISION 6 2 WD ANTIQUE TRUCKS RULES 2001 (updated 01/28/01)
TRUCK
Driver must be 16 years or older and Have a valid drivers license. Must be a pickup truck 1972 or older, two wheel drive. No vans, Suburbans, El Caminos or Rancheros. Must be ½ to 1-ton. Cab must be an original. Trucks must maintain stock appearance. Cab must have doors, windshield and back glass. Tilt front ends allowed. Aftermarket front ends allowed. Some type of truck bed must be used, a flat bed will comply with this rule. Tailgates and rear bumpers may be removed for safety of person hooking sled. Steering wheel and driver must remain in original factory position. Stock altered frame. No tube chassis. May be a later frame. Maximum wheel base center to center 136 inches.
FUEL
Gasoline fuels only, no alcohol, no nitrous oxide, no oxygen accelerate, no nitrogen methanol, and no propylene oxide. Race car gasoline may be used. No fuel tanks inside cab or on front of truck, must be inside of bed, must be A fuel cell.
ENGINE
Engine must be 472 cubic inches or smaller. Front of Block to be no more than 20" from center of front axle or more than 156" forward of the center of rear axle. Cast iron block , cast iron heads, maximum eight cylinders. Two valve, one spark plug per cylinder. Camshaft in block. Any manifold, up to one four barrel naturally aspirated carburetor, Holley stock, out of box 850 CFM maximum with factory unaltered number of 47-81 or 93-80, with choke tower. No flowed carburetors. No fuel injection, no throttle based injection. Any battery or mag powered ignition may be used. Headers or open exhaust are allowed. Headers must exit in an upward direction. Radiator must be under the hood or inside bed. Must not be inside cab. Engine must match the truck, example; Ford engine in Ford truck, except IH and Studabaker may run Ford , Chevy, or Chrysler .
TRANSMISSION AND DRIVELINE
Big rear ends allowed. No planetary axles. Two speeds allowed. Any transmission or combination allowed. Steering brakes are allowed.
HITCHES
Maximum hitch height is thirty inches (30") before, during and after pull. Minimum 36 inches behind center of the rear end. Maximum 48 inches behind center of the rear end. No part of the hitch can extend ahead of the center of the rear end. Must be rigid at all hook points. Must not have less than a 3 inch hole at the hook point.
WEIGHTS
Weights must not extend forward more than 190 in. from center of rear axle Weights must not extend beyond the rear most part of the bed.
TIRES AND WHEELS
Maximum tire 12.50 x 16.5 x 36" no split rims, snap rings, or dual wheels. No barred tires allowed, no cut tires, no recaps. Must be highway approved.
SAFETY RULES
Driver must wear seatbelt and helmet, must have mounted and working fire extinguisher in cab which is easily accessible to driver. All equipment inside cab must be mounted securely. Must have a working kill switch. Must have good working brakes. Must have radiator overflow. Must have engine side shields minimum thickness .100 steel or .125 aluminum. Must have SFI approved harmonic balancer, flywheels, transmission blanket or shrouds, blowproof bellhousing. U joint shrouds .125 steel driveshaft loops. Truck must idle when moving about in the pit and staging area. Driver must abide by any other safety rules the committee deems appropriate. Also any general COATPA rules apply.
