Jason from Embodyment

1. Your website so clearly states "Just finished contract with independant label Solid State Records. They're now making waves among the major labels." Can you expand on this more?

**** Well over the past year we have made several trips to NYC to showcase ourselves to the industry. We have been approached by several majors and have been talking to a few on a regular basis. Nothing has been set in stone as of yet.

2. Mark and Andrew are the only original members left. Is their a special bond between those two that helps make song writing easier?

**** Well actually the three of us have been together since 1993(Mark, Jason, Andrew). There is definatly a special conection there. As far as it making the process easier... it certainly helps but, Sean and Derrick both contribute their ideas to the whole process as well.

3. At Cornerstone 2001 viewers got to see old and current Embodyment together on stage for "Assembly Line Humans". What was the cause for the initial split of the first Embodyment line up that we saw on 'Embrace the Eternal'?

**** Well I think it came down to a difference in musical direction. The majority of us just wanted to do something new. Unfortunaly we weren't all on the same page. Both parties pulled in different directions. There was some tention for the first few months but over time the situation kind of just mended itself. As far as the the C-stone show. Well, it was kind of a last minute idea. We just wanted everyone know that there was no more tention between Kris and Embodyment.

4. What made you guys decide to switch from the once popular underground sounds of hardcore to your more emo/hard rock sounds that you embody today?

**** Well, It was kind of like having a desk job or fliping burgers....you can only do it for so long. We wanted to do something new, something unexpected of us. So that is just what we did.

5. Embodyment has always carried a certain spiritual vibe. Is their plans in the future for Embodyment ever to shed it's "Christian" tag?

**** I think we personaly shed the "Christian tag" thing quite some time ago. I am not sure what a "Christian band" is anyway. We're just a "band". We are all Christians, we believe that we would not be where we are without the Lord's hand on our band. We are definatly blessed. I don't know why he does it....he just does.

6. At recent concerts we have heard the new material that was not on 'Hold Your Breath'. Any plans to record some of the new material and put it out on a full length LP?

**** Well the recording part has already been taken care of curtisy of Barry Poyneter and Jason Magnusson. They never cease to amaze me!!! As far as a release is concerned...well no definate plans as of yet. We do have one song in mp3 format on our site. www.embodymentcore.com

7. What plans do you guys have for the summer other then Cornerstone?

**** In May we are playing some shows w/welton (www.weltonrock.com)in AR and we are continuing up to NJ to do a show w/Thursday and on to Kentucky, Indiana and possibly Ok. We also want to devote more attention to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. So we are going to be staying busy.

8. Well thanks for your time. Is there anything we may have missed that you would like to cover or let our readers know? Feel free to say whatever you like.

**** "I woke up this morning and the sun was gone. Turned on some music to start my day. Then lost myself in a familiar song. I closed my eyes, and I slipped away." -T. Scholz
- I love when that happens!
