Blindside - Silence

Not since the invention of the watch has something so great come out of Sweden. Stockholms Blindside is the newest musical sensation to hit the States. The slamming Swedes recently signed a deal to P.O.D.s 3 Points Records, a sub label of Elektra Records (Metallica, Keith Sweat, The Doors). However, Blindside is not new to the American music scene. They have been touring local American clubs, including Little Rocks Juanitas and Vinos, since early 1997 with P.O.D. Blindside has two previous releases on independent label Tooth and Nail Records. Both of their earlier releases were much heavier and would have never broke through to the mainstream level at the time of their releases. But with the faith of their brothers, P.O.D., these Swedes now have the opportunity to show the world what they can do. Their new album, Silence, hit stores on August 20th and has sold out at almost every location since the release. Silence presents a broader spectrum of Blindsides musical ability from the delicate sounds of Midnight and Silence to the heavy hardcore tunes like Sleepwalking. Blindside has finally grasped the concept of pop sensibility. Silence appeals to a more mass audience then either of their earlier releases. However, fans of Blindsides earlier work will not be disappointed. Blindside has not sold out or lost their edge. Blindside followers will be happy to know that they still pack as much punch as before but with a more cleaned up and less chaotic sound. Nevertheless, their song writing and musical expression has matured beyond measure. The guitars, courteous Simon Grenehed, are every bit as heavy as before but with catchy hooks that will provide Blindside with a passage way to a successful career in the music business. The vocals and lyrics of Christian Lindskog match Greneheds guitars perfectly. Tomas Naslund and Marcus Dahlstrom round out the group on bass and drums, respectively. But the true secret to Blindside is their live show. Battle axing guitars, high kicks, and Grenehed doing one handed cart wheels while playing the guitar are just minor details to the amazing spectacle that these four Swedes bring to the stage. Much like their friends, P.O.D., Blindsides message is totally positive. Silence will leave you singing the catchy choruses and humming the guitar riffs. The only bands that compare in style to Blindside would be TRUSTCompany and Papa Roach but with none of that annoying rapmetal junk. For only ten bucks this album is a must for everyones collection. Blindside can be seen on tour this fall with Hoobastank and P.O.D.
