Introduction

Current events discussion

  • Food drops (not helping, not enough food, destruction of food, poor drop areas)
  • running of out targets in Afghanistan
  • Bombing causes starvation (and further destruction of an already destroyed country!)
  • Anti- American protests being watched (or stopped in some cases) in foreign countries
  • Warnings to other nations (Indonesia, Pakistan) re: poetntial bombings in those countries (not idle threats?)

What we're doing

  • "Extreme tabling" for national day of action (10-2pm, outside UMC) ~visual
  • flyers (bring stuff to the table!)
  • Petition (hope to gain 2,500 signatures)
  • Chalking
  • Walk out to deliver petition to Chancellor Byyny

Walk Out preparations

  • Can we logistically gain enough signatures in a week?
  • is two weeks too long to wait (will we lose momentum and energy?), Give us time to research? Will the petition be applicable in two weeks?
  • Consensus vote to keep walk out on October 18 (giving us one week to gain signatures)

Announcements

  • Boulder School of the Americas (now WHISC?) Watch meeting, 6pm, UMC Forum room (free food, movies, discussion, etc.) 10.11.01
  • Card's for Colin's jailed friends
  • La Mitzvah/Wage Peace Now T-shirts (to raise $$ for legal fees) on sale at OUR table tomorrow ($10 donation)
  • Ingo Muscio (author of Cunt: A Declaration of Independence) speaking, 6pm, Old Main 10.11.01
