RPG Rules

These are the basic rules and guidelines of the RPG. If you're thinking of joining, this is mandatory reading. Remember that if rules are broken, the moderator(s) will likely quote this site.

No swearing. This is, after all, based on children's books.

No flaming (flames are mails intended to offend).

No spamming. We don't want non-Redwall related topics, otherwise this RPG wouldn't be around. And if you're going to answer someone in OOC, then at least attach some IC post.

Don't post over-sexually. Kisses and hugs are all right, but don't go further. Again, this RPG is based off of children's books.

If you are inactive for more than 3 weeks without proper notice, you will be removed from the group, as we don't encourage lurkers (members who don't post).

Watch out for Superhero Syndrome (aka invincible characters). That takes the fun out of RPing. What's meant by this is to keep what your character and others do realistic. Nobody could take on a vermin army and defeat them all single-pawed, without so much as a scratch.

Please don't auto other characters. What autoing is, for those of you who don't know, is when someone uses another person's character without the latter's permission.

Another thing that goes along with autoing is hit-calling. Don't do it. Instead of writing "She slashed him across the face," when battling another character write "She slashed at his face." Let people decide what happens to their characters. If you're battling an NPC (Non-player character), it's all right to call your hits, so long as they're realistic.

Only animals from the Redwall books are allowed, so no jaguars, bears, etc.

Pay attention to what's going on! I know from personal experience that when someone is doing their own thing when there's others around, post splits happen all too often!

As for the number of characters you're allowed to run at once, let's keep it at two maximum. We don't want anyone running the RPG with all of their characters, now do we? As for NPC's, let's try not to get too many, because if you're going to use an NPC a lot for an extended period of time, they're not really an NPC anymore, now are they?

That was just the basic stuff that everybody should know. Now onto the character generation help. This is basically stuff you need in your character biography.

Character name. Please be original, and don't take an existing character name. Also, try to pick an appropriate name. We don't want Roteye the mouse or Petunia the weasel.

Gender. This is self-explanatory.

Character species. What is he/she?

Age. Try to give a general idea. I myself still don't have the best grasp on how many seasons would equal a year of aging or whatever, so don't feel bad if you don't know either.

Character family. It's pretty self-explanatory, but just tell a little about your character's family or what happened to them.

Character appearance such as height, fur and eye color, etc. Don't forget garb. If you can, try to be very descriptive, it's nice to get a mental picture of a character.

Personality. We want to know what your character is like.

Attributes. What is your character skilled at? Pick strengths and weaknesses to help avoid Superhero Syndrome. You can have 2 classes (e.g., healer, assassin, poisoner, tracker, fighter, scholar, pirate, etc.) so long as they make sense together (for instance, a poisoner/assassin or a fighter/tracker). You can have 1 class if you feel it would be more appropriate. Try to pick a class that makes sense for your character race (A mole pirate doesn't make much sense, now does it?). Note about vermin classes: As shown in the books, vermin are usually quite unintelligent, so please don't pick a class that would require smarts (e.g., healer, scholar, etc.). There are and will be exceptions, though, as with a poisoner or thief, among other things.

Your character can have up to 2 carried weapons.

Alignment. Pick from a variety of alignments. Er, click here for a description of the alignments. One note: If you're going to be a vermin (rats, stoats, weasels, ferrets) you *must* have an evil alignment. You *must* be good if you're another beast (otters, mice, shrews, hedgehogs, voles, badgers, hares, etc). There are exceptions, however, and if you are planning on having a good-aligned vermin (like Romsca) or an evil goodbeast, you need permission from me first. Besides, we can't have all Romscas and Blagguts running around, it would spoil the fun...

Starting location. We need to know where your character is.

Once you've got a bio assembled, send it to [email protected], only after applying for membership at the Yahoo!Groups site.
