For example in 2002 there were a wide range of activities that the C.E.E. participated in throughout the coalfield region all on a volunteer basis:
1. Five ‘all day’ school visits in three counties and two states
2. One “Living History-Genealogical Program” at an Alternative School with “At-Risk” high school students
3. Twelve events at the Historic Crab Orchard Museum in Tazewell, VA
4. Two trips to Gettysburg to educate and enlighten locals about the people from this area that were participants in that great event in American History
5. Two lecturing events dealing with “Regional History”
6. Supported the Buchanan Co. Public Library with display items and a “Living History” presentation
7. Supported “Reading Across America” at local schools
8. Three community sponsored events requiring the whole “Living History” setup and display
9.One trip for professional development to improve the many aspects of the C.E.E. in future operations
