It was nice to get back to winning ways this week. We played Pulborough Res, who dumped us out of the Div 4 Cup a couple of weeks ago, so revenge was sweet.
There were a couple of poisitional changes from the usual Coalie formation. Jez pushed forward from midfield to star striker and Danny slotted into the holding role in midfield (are you watching Sven?) It worked really well and after a variety of chances Jez finished cooly for the first goal. Chris came off after being clattered in the penalty area (no pen!!?!?) and Geoff came off the treatment table to replace him. Pulborough proved more of a threat in the second half but the Coalie had all the answers and sealed the game after 70mins with another cooly taken goal, this time from Geoffer. The biggest cheer of the day was reserved for Simon whose loyal fans showed their appreciation after a 40 yard effort....which disturbed the roof tiles more than the keeper!! Great game, great result...

We started this game very brightly on Amberley's wide open pitch. We put together some good passing moves which saw Lee, Geoff and various others have good shooting chances, but we couldn't quite finish it off. As the game went on it looked like being a 0 v 0. And then, for the second week in row there was a sting in the tail. Amberley brought on a young Alan Smith look-alike, he stole into the penalty area, bumbled past the tired Coalie defence and slotted it home to put Amberley one up. They scored another as we pushed forward to try and equalise.
