I believe that when teachers and others see children struggling or acting out that automatically associate their behavior with home problems or learning disabilities. When in reality the child is suffering from Sensory Integration Dysfunction. I feel that if we start to read between the lines instead of all the other superficial reasons, maybe then we will begin to clearly address what is really going on for the child.
I intend to show in my research ways to impliment a sensory diet and the effects that the diets have on children with SI. A sensory diet is a variety of activities or things that can be implimented into a child's day to increase or decrease stimulation that they are in need of. I believe that the results that I will find will show that children will begin to thrive once there sensory needs are being meet.
